New Mike Sweeney CD
Mike will have a new CD ready in time for the Bristol show. He has a well rounded mix of songs on this one that include: Across The Alley From The Alamo, Odds And Ends, Bits And Pieces, A World I Can't Live In, Yes Ma'am, Cinderella, Colorado, I've Seen Better Days, I Left My Heart In San Francisco, You're Still On My Mind and Undecided. I'm having a hard time picking a favorite on this one. Undecided and A World I Can't Live In are really good, but I've Seen Better Days is growing on me. I believe this project is one of Mike's best! As always, there will be rhythm tracks available. I'll try to have some ready for the Super Jam here Saturday and will be taking mail orders when we ge back from the Bristol Show. Hope to see a lot of you there!

Teresa: We will be in sometime on Thursday. It will be an all day trip but we plan to leave early. If you can't wait on us we will understand. I will call your cell when we get closer. We can't wait to see everyone again. We are really looking forward to Steve's show. Roy said he hoped the back up band was the same as last year as they were the best he had ever played with. See you soon. Laurie

Roy and Laurie Ayres,
Yes, the band will be the same. I'm really looking forward to working with you again. I hope I get the chance to visit more this year and get to know you better. I always enjoy your posts on the Forum.
If you are coming through Columbia SC around dinner time, feel free to call me. I know most of the good places. (803-606-5705)
See you next week.

I just got my copy of Mike's new CD, and WOW it is a Real Winner!!!! This is one you got to get, I really liked the song "Yes Ma'am" with Mike playing some great steel, and Shawna Thompson doing the vocals. There is also a great version of "I left my heart in San Francisco".
While I was out in Nashville last month, Mike took me down on Lower Broadway and believe me some of the best talent in the world is right there in about 5 or 6 different Honky Tonks, and the sad part is the Nashville establishment won't give them the time of day.
If you are ever there in Nashville, and you want to hear some GREAT STEEL you owe it to yourself to go and see this great steel player Mike Sweeney play, he makes that Emmons sound SWEET!!!!!. I am proud to call Mike and Teresa very good friends.
By the way, Mike does have a GREAT PICTURE that was taken of Him and I and Lloyd Green in Lloyd's backyard with all of us dressed in Sho~Bud Hats and T-Shirts that he needs to share with you all!!!!!!
So ask him to POST IT???? Here and on his website.
Take care, Red Kilby. www.redkilby.com

Thanks Red. Yeah, Shawna sang her heart out on that Leona Williams tune. It's a true joy to play behind her. She phrases so well and in tune. You need to get back here so we can do the Broadway thing again.
As far as the picture goes, Teresa is GOING to put it on the website. It's just a matter of finding the time.
Thanks again.

Mike,
I hardly had a chance to visit at the show last week, I was a little busy. I wanted to say though, that your new CD is terrific and I have enjoyed it several times. The only thing better is when I get the chance to work with you live. Wish it were more often. I love your playin' and the songs you choose for your sets. I still want you to come down to Saluda one of these days. I think Bryan is considering the trip.
Tell Theresa hey for me. Come see me some time.
Jim

Thanks Jim. You boys did a great job with everybody on the show. Looking forward to next year already. And you never know I might just show up at Saluda sometime next year.

Just a note to say thank you to Mike Gross of WVOF-FM in Fairfield, CT for the review of this CD on the Swingin' West web site. I really appreciate all the things you said, Mike, and I'm looking forward to meeting all of you in a few weeks. This is a cool site. Check it out.
