Robin Trower has heart attack before PA gig

Post by Ron Whitfield »

The word is that he was about to play the Greensburg, PA gig, suffered the attack backstage and had to be defibrillated. About an hour later he walked on stage and played his ass off, then went to the hospital.

Can't find any update.

Robin played the State Theatre here - in fine form and to a sellout crowd - in State College on Thursday the 24th, and was scheduled to play Greensburg at the Palace the next night, Friday the 25th.

Here is a review of his show at The Egg in Albany on the 27th: http://blog.timesunion.com/reviews/

No mention of any health issues whatsoever. I suppose it's possible that any news could have been buried. But I find it hard to believe that after a heart attack, he would have been able just continue on immediately with zero show cancellations or delays.

Of course, I could be wrong, but hopefully this is just a false rumor.

Thankfully it was much less than originally stated by someone who was there.

Per his web page;
Apparently no heart attack, but the band has been sick thru most of the tour and Robin was in bad shape this night. There was an ambulance there to take care of him, the show was delayed, but he was able to do the show which stated off slow but built up and ended as one of his best.

I'm relieved! That brought tears to my eyes as soon as I read the first post. Robin Trower is one of my top guitar heros.

Ditto that...

The guy has never gotten the credit he's due. His first three LPs are all-time classics, and he's getting a great guitar tone these day's with his current set up, much better than in recent years, which was always at least really good.

Here's to many more years of Trower power.
