HE HAF GOT WOT HE WONTZ, TALK!
He could lay quiet for a while and then come back charging bigger than ever. KW ain't dumb. Just rude and disrespectful.
I'd like to know why it's allright for (some people) to interupt other people when they are speaking.

What's important is the public's perception of the incident... and that has been overwhelmingly negative.
Even President Obama (dare I mention his name on this forum) called KW a "jackass" in an 'off the record' comment today.

Jerry Springer must be so proud. The trashy behavior he milks on his show for ratings has taken over all our public discourse. An MTV awards show is by far the least surprising place for this to turn up lately. :\

What the guy did was really no surprise or mystery... after all, he is an idiot.
What bothers me more is the culture that's been created in which anyone listens to, or appreciates a moron like that.

A while ago I had a spare pass to a day long music festival. A girlfriend of mine expressed an interest in it, then told me she wanted it so she could go see Snoop Dog (sp?). I wouldn't give it to her, but I did give her my thoughts about the mental state of anyone who would pay money to listen to someone call her a Ho. I mean, are people really that stupid ? Apparently so.

My opinion, for what it's worth, is that this was just another paying gig for Mr. West. I think it was designed to do just exactaly what it did, draw a lot of attention and get people stirred up. Talk is good for business. I don't think it matters much if it's positive or negative. It's when people stop talking about you that you're finished. :)

Anyone see him try to explain himself on Leno's new show last night? I've never seen such a drugged up, brain dead idiot in all my life. I believe Leno asked him what his Mom would have said to him about the incident, and all he could do is stare aimlessly, trying to look like he was going to cry (I guess Momma died recently). Leno had to speak up to bring him out of the "trance". Of course he said he apologized and regretted the incident, but what a lying piece of crap he is.

A very high rated official in the USA referred to KW ( unofficially) as a Jackass ! Finally !

You see , it doesn't matter if this was staged or not, perception is what follows. He ends up a Jackass either way !

I still think it was staged, but I also think he's a jackass for agreeing to do such a stupid thing.

What about that idiot from SC yelling out during the president's address to congress? You just don't do that when someone is speaking from a podium, especially someone with the ranking of president of the United States. He made an ass out of himself and his party.

i think he's a jackass and more, and if staged, it was just by him. he's not to be respected. and presidents/politicians and the like have taught us over the years that they are not due the respect that my parents thought they were and taught me about when i was young. you get the respect you deserve.

It was very sad that someone behaved in such a crass and rude manner as to attempt to ruin what was a wonderful moment in another person's life. Strangely, (and I really don't know why), Kanye West's behavior quickly reminded me of past SGF threads about the SGHOF awards..... I'll leave the tone threads out of this...

Maybe Kanye should check out AA. Apparently he was sucking on a bottle of Cognac during the evening.
That does not promote inteligence.

Um, now that you mention it ... :whoa:

FWIW - I don't think a reasoned and civil discussion of the merits of HOF choices matches KW's "performance". But I also don't think that some of the more outrageous claims made on those discussions are remotely reasoned or civil.

For another take on dealing with destructive behavior, I like this from Robert Sutton at Stanford's Management Science and Engineering Department: Click Here.

NB: Some people may blush at Sutton's terminology, but this book started out as an article in the Harvard Business Review, that is no lie. But you are forewarned.

Thanks Dave for the referral (and the warning - But, I did once upon a time read Les Chants de Maldoror by Isidore Ducasse and didn't blush).
I just now ordered a copy of Sutton's book. I plan to share it with my boss at work.

Yup - most of us have no trouble with that language - I certainly don't. But I do know some people who really don't like even the most remotely vulgar language, and I think there may be folks who feel like that on this board. b0b articulates that this forum should be "family-friendly", and I agree.

FWIW - that book was recommended by my boss at work as recommended reading for everyone. I heartily agree.

He's a rapper with 10 Grammy awards and total sales of about 50 million or more... doesn't say much for the state of pop music today, does it? :\

Last year KW bragged that he was going to be "bigger than Elvis." Yeah, right... that will happen when he releases 141 albums or singles, every album going gold, platinum or multi platinum, and total sales over 1 billion... and when he stars in 33 movies. :\
