Thanks guys. What I have posted here is merely a microcosm of a much larger steel guitar tradition.
The world would really be surprised of the number of past and present steel guitar players that have come through this churches history over the past seventy years.thanks again.
i'm impressed with how respectfully everyone dresses and there seems to be great pride in the instruments. what better way to celebrate the joy of your faith than with the sacred strings atop a steel guitar!
Hello Del,
Just a note to say how inspiring it is to see the future of the Sacred Steel community becoming solidly strong. There are so many Sacred Steel players evolving, and coming to the forefront of this genre`. It is truly amazing.
Again, thanks for inviting me, and the Goldenstrings ensemble` to being a part of this historical event. Can`t wait till next year!
God Bless,
Bishop Ronnie P. Hall
Hello Bishop Hall,What a day of rejoicing we experienced on August 15th. So much history in one room, that was amazing in itself.
The junior Legends started things off but the Legends put the iceing on the cake. Thank you again for your support.

Del, can you tell me where Reggie "Footie" Covington plays in Philadelphia?
Also nice to see Trinity Taylor from my old hometown of Tupelo, MS.
And so nice to see so many women steelers. I've always thought steel is a friendly instrument for women. It doesn't require the finger and hand strength of regular guitar, and you don't get callouses.
Hello David,
I'm not ignoring you, just taking a little while to locate the church address that Footie plays at.They recently relocated to a larger church. And also Trinity recently moved to Mt. Clemens MI.from Tupelo.
Del, thanks for postin all the great pics and all the wonderful info. I've got a question for ya. Do most Sacred Steelers use the original pickup that comes on a pedal steel guitar or are there certain pickups that lend themselves more to your sound? Oh, ok, one more question. Do the pedals come into play when playin Sacred Steel style?
Andy I can't speak for all of the sacred steel players, but to my knowledge the young steel players generally play with the original pick up,The older seasoned guys are more apted to experiment with various speakers, amps, pick up wounds etc...
The sacred steel evolved from one church that later divided into two individual churches. The Jewell Dominion church musicians favored the lap steel style but the Keith Dominion church musicians adopted the pedal steel style. Hope that was helpful.
Del Ray,
If a contingent of your steel players and bands ever travel out to the Northwest, I hope you will let us know so we can come to hear you all play. I think you should consider a tour to our area. Thanks for sharing!
Hello Dennis,
It is very humbling to know that people would come to hear us play.If we ever travel across the fruited plain to your area we will give you a heads up.Thank you for your kindness!
Del, Thanks for posting the headsup on the event. Looks like it turned out well. Great pics! Bishop Hall made a comment about "next year". Is this going to be a yearly event?
Still enjoying "Glorious Triumph"! Just can't seem to get it out of my CD rotation for very long. LOL!
