Les Paul
I was using my delay last nite and thought of how the whole concept of effects was due to the late great Les Paul. All of us players of electric instruments owe him a big thank you!But I'm sure you all know that. Just thought I'd throw it out. RIP Lester!

I agree Mitch! Les Paul not only experimented with the solid body Spanish style guitar that eventually became his namesake model, but also helped invent and make possible the whole multi-track recording industry!! Also, his use of effects was genius!!! Even early television was drawn into the mind of Les Paul along with his wife Mary Ford and the wonderful music they created over the years!
I have owned many "Les Paul" model guitars, although they may have not all been Gibsons (one of them was). I currently own an Epiphone Les Paul Ultra, it's awesome!!! I have always loved the look, the shape and especially the unique tones that are possible form a "Paul". I have owned a lot of guitars including Teles, Strats, hollowbodies, and oddball stuff along with the Les Pauls. I always feel comfortable with a Les Paul.
2009 marks the 50th anniversary of the pinnacle of solidbody electric guitar making (in most peoples opinion) The 1959 Gibson Les Paul!!!
It's just part of the Genius that was, is and will continue to be, Les Paul.
Thanks Les!!!

Don't forget Les Paul's "log"...

When Les Paul sawed a Gibson archtop in half, shoved a plank in between, and fitted a pickup, Gibson thought he was crazy. He proved them wrong, and started an industry and an artform which will last for ever.
Keep on a-pickin, Les. When they give you a harp, saw it down the middle and put a pick up on it. You'll soon have the angels rocking and rolling.
