Pedal steels you own
Gorden, I have 4 pedal steels
1953 4 pedal with Harlen changer
Cougar 5pedals 4knees
One I built 3pedals 1knee
Carter 12 string
they all play nice it's hard to get rid of them! My wife of 50 years thinks I'm crazy, Chuck

Holding at at 2 at the moment:
My beloved Sho Bud Pro I
And
a MSA D-12 that is in the midst of being restored. Unfortunately for me, I've been in the midst of restoring it for over a year now. It was a filthy mess when I got it, the undercarrage was covered in the heaviest residue of nicotine and smoke I've ever laid eyes on. I disassembled it and have cleaned up all the parts, now I just need to reassemble it. Hopefully by 2010!!!!!!

Oh, I forgot to mention the hacked up Sho-Bud Maverick (S-10, 2 pedals, 1 knee lever) that I keep at my sister's house in South Carolina. So I guess that makes 5 total, soon to be 6.b0b wrote:Soon to add a Desert Rose S-8, 5+5.
- Rickenbacker S-8, 6 pedals
- Fender 1000 D-8, 8 pedals
- Sierra Olympic S-12, 5+5
- Williams 400 D-12 crossover, 5+5
It's sorta like being pregnant, I guess.

I've only had two in twenty years. The first was a very strange S10 Sho~Bud Professional with six pedals and no knee levers. It was pretty beat up but I only paid $400 for it. It wasn't a very good guitar to learn on and it spent several years in the closet. That guitar was sold to buy a used 2000 Carter which is what I play now. I'll be getting my first new guitar later this year...the deposit is paid and construction is underway.

Previously owned:
- Emmons ('84) P/P S-10 loafer (never should have sold that one!!)
- Carter D-10
- Emmons (late 70's) P/P D-10 fatback
Currently own:
- ZB Custom (mid-70s) D-10
- Derby ('07) D-10
- Sho-Bud (mid to late 70's) LDG
I do miss my Emmons and would like another P/P someday, but I don't think I'll ever get rid of the three I have now, they are all super guitars in their own right.

possesion
My first was abirds eye Maverick then a s10 sho bud pro, a borrowed Gibson electra Harp, a single neck Emmons with 4 on the floor, traded that for a '78 Emmons pp, owned that and a Emmons Le Grande III until last year when I traded the PP to Herby Wallace for a Mullen G2 as a down payment. So as of today I own the LeGrande and a G2. It will arrive any day now. Placed the order oct' 4 2008. Who wants to bet on the day of arrival?

when i got into playing steel, i told myself i was NOT going the same route i went thru with guitars and other instruments - i only needed ONE steel - for guitars, i could always justify needing an acoustic, electric, jazz hollowbody, a tele, all for variety of tones - (i ended up with 12 guitars...not cheap ones either!) - if lloyd green only used one steel, that was good enough for me (btw, do you ever find it ironic that the top recording pro's usually only have 1 instrument, and all the "semi-pro's" feel the need to have a dozen. Lloyd said he never owned more than 1 guitar at a time, even doing hundreds of sessions a year - although now, i think he has 2, probably "retired" the LDG.
but anyway, i have 2
a '65 Emmons S-10 (Cassified) and a beautiful sunburst lacquer '92 D-10 Emmons Legrande. they both sound so good i cant imagine why i would need any more.

7, down from 10 recently.
Number I can play: 0.
I've sold 2 Mavericks, an Emmons Student, a BMI and 5 ZBs over the years. Looking back, if I'd just kept the first ZB S-10 (hi Chip in NorCal) and the Emmons student (hello in New Zealand wherever you went), life would have been so much easier.
Table steels, lap steels, acoustic steels, resonators? You'll have to call Price Waterhouse Coopers.
