Don't know if it counts, maybe Jr. Brown or RR.The only time I saw this from a local artist, was in the 50's,In Columbus Ga. a guy [Johnny Lingo] had a local TV show,He was the band leader and main vocalist,He played a double neck Fender standing up,it had tall legs on it.Only one I remember,I'm sure was proberly more some where that did this. DYK?BC.

Singing Steelers
Hi Lee, Scotty Henderson is one of the best around. Excellent Steel Player and really good vocalist. I love his Western Swing Style. His band works out of the Lake Of The Ozarks area in Missouri.

My friend....................
(the late) RICK ALEXANDER, my good friend, stood and played his multi-necked guitar there just off the beach in sunny Florida land. You can see it on YOU TUBE.

I was a singer and guitar player before I ever played steel. When I first started playing steel I thought I couldn't sing and play, but then other bandmates weren't singing the songs I wanted to play steel on, so I sat down at the steel and started singing. Found out it was no big deal. I've done it ever since. 'Bout 30 years of it or so.

Joe Wright seems to do it with ease. Take a look at this You Tube video.

Just got back from a wonderful evening here in Portland, Oregon watching Harley James of the fabulous "Buckles" doing just that.
Harley can sing, play killer steel (or guitar), light your cigarette and probably wash your car - all at the same time and without breaking a sweat. Don't know how he does it, but he does. Amazing talent.

The Steel Player that works with me also plays lead guitar, sings lead and harmony with me and we mostly work as a trio.
Tommy Lopez, out of Brooklyn and Long Island fame, now residing in SE Arizona. Sings great and plays great.

Shady Mitchell--Loraine Texas
I'll match Shady Mitchell against anybody for either playing steel guitar and/or singing. The best I've ever heard and we've kept him a secret for a long time. He only lives 40 or so miles from me and I've sure been cheated lately relative to both his playing and vocals.
