As I said, and TW and AB said, it was acting done by an actor. Free publicity. Note, Silly Bob is NOT a steeler, you cannot compare his lack of humility to that of the great PSG players mentioned. And, he DID accomplish a lot of publicity for his bandmates, who were, at least until yesterday, apparently relatively "unknown."

It sounds like a lot of his fellow countrymen are trying to rationalize his bad manners and insufferable ego.
There are a lot of good-hearted caring Americans in this world. He could be one of them, if he wanted to, but to use Canada for one of his publicity stunts is really low class.

Now this is an international incident? He was prolly just upset that they were runnin too late to stop at Tim Horton's. Hey, we forgave y'all for that whole Shania thing.

Hey Scott, not sure if you knew, but the bass player in The Boxmasters is Danny Baker AKA "Unkown Hinson".. Didn't know if you trying to make a pun, but you did.

I listen to 'Q' with host Jian Ghomeshi on a regular basis. It is a highly respected broadcast with a well deserved reputation for journalistic excellence. I can't imagine that Ghomeshi or the producers of the show in any way collaborated with Billy Bob Thornton in a publicity stunt. I know that sort of thing exists but this show is broadcast by the CBC, Canada's national radio network. Publicity stunts are not what they do.
For my money it's a lot more likely that Thornton was just in a bad humor. It was early. He alluded to smoking regulations ( did someone tell him to butt out before the interview?). Apparently Canadian audiences haven't been overly receptive. Like so many celebrities he thinks his fame entitles him to throw public tantrums. I know nothing about the group or their music but they'd be better off without the Prima Donna. I bet they'll part company before too long.

According to the news tonight & a bunch of websites, BB and the Boxmasters are off the rest of the Canadian tour. This is supposed to be announced on Willie Nelson's website but I can't find the reference.

Willie got a great review for his Toronto show & I'm sorry I missed it.

Gotta go scare up some gravy ...

BBob "dropped out" of the Canadian tour.

Thornton had been booed during his performance Thursday night at Massey Hall in Toronto — a day after saying Canadian audiences were like "mashed potatoes but no gravy" during an awkward interview with CBC's Jian Ghomeshi, host of the radio show, Q.

"Boo all you want, but I want to say something," Thornton told Toronto crowd. He then called Ghomeshi an "a—hole."

I feel bad for his band, The Boxmasters. They're off the Willie Nelson tour... pack up and go home early because of BB's erratic behavior. This guy's music career is over, and maybe even his acting career.

On the up side, here is a story all Americans can be proud of.
Charlie Pride is coming to Edmonton Alberta in the near future. A woman got conned into paying 1200 dollars for two tickets to his concert on the internet.
When Charlie Pride found out about it, he flew to Edmonton, gave the woman her money back and got her seats on the floor in front of the stage. He said, "I wouldn't pay that much to see me". Is it any wonder that Canada thinks the world of Charlie Pride? What a class act!

Andy, I saw that on the news also. It didn't surprise me. Years ago Charlie Pride did a show for our local summer festival. I knew several of the organizers and they said Charlie was one of the nicest, most unassuming guys they had ever met. He was the biggest name that ever performed locally and yet he was the easiest to work with. A real gentleman. Thornton could learn a lot about respect and humility from Charlie.
They just ran that news item about Thornton telling an audience that Ghomeshi is an a**hole. Geez...it takes one to know one. I feel sorry for his bandmates too.

Willy Nelson & Family, along with BBT & The Boxmasters are scheduled (or were) to appear at The Mullen Center (UMass).

It's probably part of the Canadian tour.

Maybe they already came and went. I looked in an old "Advocate" (local paper), but couldn't locate the "ad" for the gig.

I was actually thinkin' about going, if only to see the irrepressible "Willy".

Now, I would decline. Too bad for Willy, but I wouldn't cough up one red cent to see or support BBT.

I know many, many fellow musicians who would gladly give up their left n%^ to have the opprtunity afforded to Mr. Thorton. What a piece of pretentious hogwash. What's he trying to prove, anyway?

It has been reported that Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters will not be continuing the Canadian tour with Willie and Ray. At this time, no reasons have been announced but the remainder of the tour will continue as scheduled without The Boxmasters.

I know the interviewer, Jian Ghomesh, who is a fine musician, played drums in Moxie Furvis. His professionalism during that interview is very impressive. If it were me and BB was being so difficult,I would have thrown gas on the fire by asking about Angilina's vial of blood of some similar nonsense. I guess that's why Jian has the job, and not me.

The 6AM interview time was only in BBT's mind. That show aired at 10 AM Eastern. Maybe BBT didn't change his watch from Hollywood time.

On Thursday, the Boxmasters were booed at Massey Hall in Toronto because of the interview. They pulled out of the tour after that show. Ray Price is also on the bill.

If Tom Petty ventured into acting, and was doing an interview to promote his movie, you could be sure the interviewer would start by mentioning his huge accomplishments in the music business. What's wrong with that?

BBT proved he can't cut it in the music biz. It takes more than talent and strong material, which I'm not even sure he has. The artists need to develop a fan base base that will support him.

Just ask Willie Nelson, who has kept his uniqueness while being true to his fans for decades. Too bad you "don't know him", BBT.

I do feel sorry for the band members. They know they are one of many Honky Tonk bands, and are lucky to get out of the bars. They also know that it was due one member's celebrity status, and wallet. You could see the sad look in their eyes during the interview as they watched their good fortune being flushed away.

BTW, I've always liked BBT's work. I suspect he just got some bad "potted meat and french fried taters".

Has anyone heard Billy Bob play drums?

There are a lot of people out there who think that drums would be the easiest to play because you don't have to learn chords, worry about intonation or learn scales.

I think it's one of the hardest instruments to play. If you can't keep time or don't have time feel, which is easier said than done, you're not in the game.
A bunch of good musicians playing with a mediocre or bad drummer is not a good band.
It's a very important chair.

TOUR CANCELLATIONS

Unfortunately, The Boxmasters had to cancel the remainder of the Canadian dates with Willie Nelson and Ray Price, including Montreal and London, due to one band member and several of the crew having the flu.

So that explains it. Get well soon guys.

The Boxmasters have a kickass touring band which includes Jon Rauhouse on steel. There are a few nice videos on youtube and it's obvious who the weak link is. BTW, they have a great drummer, not Thornton on drums.

Billy Bob has never seemed to be much of a comformist. If you've got his talent and money you don't have to be. I like his movies. He might get an Opry spot with this band before it's over.
