I had no idea that Jim Bob Gairrett was playin' the Fender too. He usually plays a Mullen on tour with Kenny. I was tryin' to figure out if it was Paul or Randy Beavers on steel for Lee Ann Womack-the only way I could tell was if it was a Zum it was Randy, or if it was a Franklin, it was Paul. Mike Daily was on steel for George Strait-he was playin' his Zum.

There's been no parole officer, and BTW I resent the innuendos. I've been a good boy. Every charge over the years was thrown out for lack of evidence or police misconduct. If you don't believe me, you can call my attorney. NO CONVICTIONS!

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Paul - fair enough. Several folks read it like I did but would not post - but thanks for posting the clarification. Sorry for jumping you. A bad guitar IS a bad guitar.

As for Hinson's comments, he's apparently just interested in following me around and hanging on my every word. It's nice having a fan, even a unique one like that. Hey, Steve - join the forum; you might even like it.

I always liked the '62 Valiant grill, maybe not on a Fender.

Somehow I'm fairly sure that Mr. Hinson has a little more to do than follow you around Jim! He's downtown selling out remember?

Y'all are killin' me. This thread should be in Humor.

And I must say I am shocked - shocked - to learn they are using tracks and prop instruments on an awards show.! Next thing you know, you guys are gonna be tellin' me some of those sweet young things have surgically enhanced features, and that's not their real hair color - stop, stop - don't ruin it any further for me! :whoa:

I don't know why the knowledge that these performances were faked for T.V. surprises anyone. We live in the age of ProTools and Vocal Correction Units in the studio. We used to laugh about studio magic, but, now it really is studio magic. I've heard some singers and groups who have great studio releases, only to be dissapointed by their live delivery !

I think that it is very sad that the producers of any music show would think that the band is not interesting enough to the viewer to have them featured on the stage in plain sight. I also think it is sad that anyone would call the players a sell out for taking the gig. It ain't their fault. I'm sure if they had asked Paul and Bruce to actually play, they would have been happy to. I realize that most of these comments are meant to be funny, but lets just make sure they know it. It does surprise me that the powers that be actually care if they even have a steel on the show, much less a real name brand player. If you show up for work Monday, and they don't have work for you to do, would you rather sit around and do something silly that you can laugh about, or get laid off?

Hey Russ. I think I may have owned that guitar. Got it on ebay. The guy had a drill, and He was not afraid to use it. I admire a guy who can repair some welding without removing the parts from the guitar. Who cares if it's charred a little, if it ain't on fire?

I agree Bobby. I can't even get paid to play for real. If I got offered some cash to fake it,I would do it too. It's a tough economy !

OK Bobby, my posts on this thread have not accused anyone of being a sellout, not even close, and my comment on steel builders missing their golden opportunity at product placement was only directed at the steel manufacturing community as a whole. I wasn't singling anybody out. :|

Dustin, of course it doesn't surprise anyone now, but when you were a kid starting out in the 60's, it was a hard lesson to learn as you made your way through the trenches.

Lol @ this thread. I've played the Fender 3 times...at 3 different places. That thing gets around. The last time I sat down with it at the American Music Awards, I got brave and pushed the pedals. The rods ripped out of the bottom of the guitar, and I spent the next 10 minutes fixing a guitar that I wasn't even playing. How's THAT for irony? Steve, my entire career since '04 has been based on selling out. Haha.

Y'all need to cut poor Steve some slack. The boy has learned the value of a few grass stains. Hell, he's been to Oildale for goodness sake. He can take care of his own seff but as a fellow whore I felt an obligation. YOU GO GIRL!
