Well we did it, 31 players set up and about 12 more just watched. We had 5 drive down from the northern Washington area one from eastern Wa, one from the Sacramento Ca area and many from the local area.

All seemed to have a good time even with 15 minutes per song and you only take one ride. But it is all about the brotherhood and we have been brothers a long time.

Man, when these Northwest guys give a party, everybody comes. Welcome to steel guitar heaven (or Hell, depending on your frame of reference, I guess...) I think everybody had a good time. Terriffic backup band. Maybe next time I'll set up and play, too!

Well, Just another chapter..

One of us is smiling just because he can now, and the other is just to remember what it was like for at least a day or so..

GREAT time. Found out my teeth come out when I laugh, and I had to poligrip to make it through the first hour..

The first of many more there. The place made a TON of money.

At least the band got PAID this time,$600 for a four piece, and most of them even acted like it.

All we thankfully missed was the Singing Busdriver with the pony tail doing another "Comeback" on our Dime.

I had a GREAT TIME. Believe it or not, somebody important even flipped me the Bird.. (Something that shows me signs of a complete recovery..) I think most of the bad manners were unintentional or not to be helped considering. I suppose mine included if noticed. I think I blanked out a lap steeler by kind of taking a "redo". I flubbed that one too....

I had to promise a certain guy with a pony tail from Seattxx that I wouldn't tell any of my friends "up north" what a BLISTERING bunch of COUNTRY he played...

Hope to make many more of them, God willing. I won't need any more than being with people that have helped and been friendly to me in my worst times and pickin' a little too.

Just like happened most of the day.

Ditto what Ben said. There were some unreal players there, and while everyone made at least some some fun noise, I especially enjoyed Dan Tyack and the gentleman with the Fender 8-string Deluxe. I also enjoyed seeing Russ Blake try out a bunch of other folks steels!

I estimate I played about 70% good notes as opposed to last time where it was more like 20%

Course I still played 30% bad notes... Maybe next time I can up the ante to about 15% bad notes

Had a GREAT time Dan, and your being there playing "Tommy White" quality E9 dropped a lot of jaws. Glad my Poligrip held up.

Wow!!! Looks like y'all had a mighty time way up there. Makes me wish that I lived up there in the cold and wet PAC-NW...almost. Also, looks like you have quite a "young" set of pickers 'round your parts, at least compared to us Florida pickers. Eric, if you need some Poligrip, come to a jam down here. We eat that stuff for breakfast.

I can say that for myself and Tom Palmer also. We drove down together from the Seattle area. Had a lot of time to talk about it on the way home. Thanks you Portland guys for putting on such a "monster" jam.

Well, my wife was feeling so good (broken hip and all), that we left Portland early this am, and actually drove all the way home to Placerville, CA!

Thank you all for giving me such a nice welcome to your great steel jam! I had the time of my life... and had so much fun meeting one-great-steel-picker after another-great-steel-picker!!! And not one, but two restored ZB guitars.... ahhhhhhh, so nice. My N. CA friend Dave Zirble needs to go to one of these

... then there would be three ZBs

This was such a laid back, friendly gathering of fellow musicians, I would really encourage you locals of OR, or WA who haven't been yet to make the next jam.

Many thanks to the great back-up band too... takes a special group of musicians who can repeat the backing of a song for what ever it takes to give everyone a chance for a lead.... my hat's off to them fur sure!

A good time for sure. A big shout out for the guys in the band....thanks you did a great job..Ronnie's singing..bobs guitar,and James on the fiddle was a real treat. Thanks to all family,friends,girlfriends,wives and dance queens that came to support us.

I recall seeing that guy playing dobro at a bluegrass jam at Gryphon Stringed Instruments when he was still in high school. His country credentials are very strong, including Asleep at the Wheel. I believe Bob Snelgrove has a tape of Dan and Bobby Black at a club in the Bay Area where there is no guitar, just two Franklins, bass, and drums. Alot of over playing but full of great ideas.
