Amber Dibgy

Post by Billy Knowles »

I would like to thank my friends, Tommy Butler, Clyde Mattocks and Jimmy Capps for turning me onto Amber Digby. She is Dickey Overbey step-daughter and Dickey is on most of her CDs. She is a really great country singer and all the songs on her CDs are great country with a great country band. Lots of steel and fiddle. She has a great country voice. We need to support her and her country CDs. She is from Nashville. Darrell McCall is her uncle, I think. Anyway it would be nice if radio would play her but I guess that is asking too much. At least I can hear some real country on her CDs.

She is all country and a very good singer--always a good steel in her music (mostly Dickey).

I listen to her on Sirus classic country.

One of my favorites. I don't have too many favorites anymore. There's less and less people doing country, but Amber is at the top. Dicky has been one of my favorites since his Ronnie Milsap days. He knows how to back a singer and play a soulful break. What more could you ask of a steel player than that?

I have heard Amber on XM-Sirius radio, since that is where you can really hear REAL COUNTRY( take that-WSM). She really a talented singer. I love to hear her sing. And Dickey does some really great playing on Steel. At least there's someone in Texas keeping the country in country.Tommy Shown

I first saw and heard Amber at Ginny's in Austin 3 years ago. On my annual TX
trip, I drive as many miles as it takes to hear her. She's a beauty with today's
top traditional country voice.

I agree with the liner notes on one of her CDs. "I believe this is probably the best female Country album in 30 years...maybe ever!"

I found a song by her "If you were me" totally by accident off of iTunes. Wow, it was like a cool drink of water on a hot desert afternoon. The real deal. And what great steel!!! Her tunes have filled up the "recently played" memory buffer on my iPod. : )

Her first two albums showed great promise, but felt a bit basic – a great voice, but identical standard arrangements on all the songs, the low budget shining through a little too much. Stellar steel playing, though.

But her latest album, obviously with more time and money spent on the production, is absolutely magnificent. Not one single track that's less than very good, which is very rare indeed. Can't wait for the next one!
