I haven't been to one for a while but I intend to make this one. Does anyone know how long it takes to drive from the Norfolk/Va.Beach area to Fayetteville? I attended a steel jam yesterday in (fiddler) Jerry Dunbar's garage in Kinston, NC and had a great time. Kenny Dail and Clyde Mattocks from Kinston were there along with myself and a friend (steeler Rick Mann) from our area along with some other fine musicians and friends. Kenny Dail is really sounding good on his new Mullen, really getting a great tone. Then ol' Clyde is so good I can't hardly stand it. He nails everything that's thrown in his direction with that great Emmons tone and his great approach to his instrument.

Ray Walker has graciously volenteered to host the Sat eve jam with the band. I would go anywhere anytime to pick behind this guy. Great singer and front man. One of those people that doesn't need a band to perform, he's sure of what he's doin' and you guys can play along! If I could sing that well, there would be alot of stuff for sale here!

By the way Jacks looks and sounds great behind that D-10 Mullen he just bought. Finally he got a good guitar. I just completed the body for a custom SD-10 that he will be finishing in the next couple of weeks. I can't wait for him to show up at a jam with it.

Just talked with Wade Hargrove, and he is planning on making it on Sunday; he is the guy that played in Wilson at the last jam there, and who professed to be just starting, then tore apart some fine C6 for us; besides that he is a super nice fellow; also, talked with Mr. C6 smooth himself, John D. Williams and he plans to be there. Looks like it is going to be a great turnout..Try to make it!!
[This message was edited by Bowie Martin on 09 November 2003 at 05:53 PM.]

As FORMER MEMBER of the MASGA...I will also attend with my 2002 Blue Carter D-12. I also have MC capabilities..having been a musician and front man for well over40 years. As to my playing abilities...that's questionable! I have my good days and bad days. It seems like at jams and shows I have my BAD Days..But plan on Having a very good Two days at this venture

I hope the preceding bumps were the steel guitar cases bumping tail gate of the pickup or trunk lid of the family car. Because it is very close to the time to start the Mid Atlantic Steel Guitar jam in Faytetteville, North Carolina.
If you are traveling south on I95 and arrive at "South of the Border", you've gone too far, turn around and go back north to exit 41.
If you're traveling east on I40 and it looks really wet in front of you, you've gone too far, that's the Atlantic Ocean, not MASGA. Fayetteville is 100 miles from the beach.
Well you get the idea. Big Jimmie, Skip and I are looking for you. Your MC's are Skip, Jerry Fleming, Bowie Martin, Ray Walker (The Walker Professional Players Chair), and Glen Lanning, Vice President of MASGA.
