Thank you for posting about "Someday Soon" Fish! This song is the most exquisite thing I've heard in a long time. I found the Judy Collins version with Buddy Emmons on youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ugAjvo7XkE

Tablature for the intro and fill:
http://www.buddyemmons.com/tab_from_buddy.htm

Is he on the entire album ?

Is there pedal steel on the original version by Ian Tyson ?

And, who plays steel on this version with Ian Tyson and Judy Collins from 1986 ?

Thanks to Fish and John, I got to hear it. I thank you very much. There are some beautiful photo's showing while she's singing. One of them is of Hoover Dam and a bridge going across in front of it. This will be the by-pass bridge when it's done. Not done yet but, maybe next year. Right now; truck's, buss's, and other large vehicles are not allowed to cross the dam...

Thank you again guy's,
Fred

I don't think there's anything wrong with asking if BE has any appearances coming up. I don't think there's anything wrong with a few kindhearted inquiries either. It's certainly nothing to be rude about.

Tonight at Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Que, I noticed they have "Big E's Collard Greens" on the menu! Could it be a tribute?

Back in '88 I had the good fortune to play the Borderline in London with Hogan's Heroes, Don Everly, Albert Lee and, of course, Buddy Emmons. One of the songs in my repertoire used to be 'Someday Soon', and it was a huge thrill to sing that song with Buddy playing his tasteful fills behind me.

Then I got to give him the nod to play the solo....

:D :D :D :D :D

I DID enjoy that gig!!!

Right on!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the only reason we talk about him the way we do, is because we love him.

Just what I said, Damir. Maybe Buddy would prefer that we leave him alone. As I said, some of the guys posting here know Buddy, and know what he wants to do. I imagine he's got REAL friends, not just us folks out here on the 'net, to talk to. No offense intended towards anyone, but Buddy's silence on the Forum says a lot, to me.

Well said, Stephen.

I know I added a post a little earlier, but these threads make me a little uncomfortable. They don't exactly invade his privacy, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but they're intrusive just the same.

Roger and Stephen what they seem to me are posts trying to coax Buddy on here. They seem to be done with the thinking that something will spark Buddy into responding. I agree that even though we love Buddy and his music we should just let it lie. He has been through a lot with his ailments and losing the love of his life. I know if it was me after all that I wouldn't give a darn about whether I was on this forum or not. And to add to this, Peggy went with Buddy to the shows he did and possibly he is staying away from the music and such because it brings back memories of her. So why don't we just quit coaxing him on here. I am sure that if something important involving Buddy occurs that either he or one of his friends like Ron Elliot, Scotty, Greg Gailbreth, or someone will post. That is how I feel.

what I did was ask a question, wich was not even directed to Buddy at all ( I have no idea where you got that from)

1. question: " is Buddy playing anywhere?"
Mikes answered: "No"

2.question: "is he going to play anywere in the near future?"
Mikes answered again: : "No"

so, how is this question directed to Buddy beats me...I got answers to my questions and I thank Mike for that... I`m not sure what is not clear here? what is that some people don`t understand? is it my English or what?why some people think that they need to step in and "defend" Buddy...??? this question was not a personal message to Mr.Emmons but a question directed to forum members...please don`t try to start an argument out of nothing, thank you

I have to agree with Damir. I mean, just because we're writing about the man, doesn't mean that every time something is written, his phone rings or he gets a letter in the mail. So really, how is this bugging him?? I wish people would write about me with such affectiion and caring. I have not heard one bad thing said about Buddy, not one thing that says: "Hey Buddy, get on here and say something!!"

So why all the hostility??

I was wondering the same thing. Let's try that shoe on another foot: If I post here and ask if Gary Morse or Al Perkins are playing Nashville will somebody jump down my throat?

Trying to find the Steve Young download

Post by Steve Spitz »

My band does the tune"Don`t think twice" and I would like to hear what Buddy played, but I can`t find a way to download that tune. Unlikely I can spring for the two album set, I am just looking for other ideas, what I play is really nothing special on that one, and the band really likes the tune. I`m guessing that what Buddy played on the Steve Young version might be better than what I`m playing .
Can anyone help me get this one tune ? Thanks!

Stephen is absolutely right. Buddy recently lost his wife. Let us leave him to grieve and adjust to living without her in peace.

Well said Stephen

uhhh, so nobody is supposed to talk about him at all?
It's not like we're calling him or dropping by his house.
The way I see it, some people got turned on to some great tracks because of this thread, so where's the harm.
If Buddy does visit the forum do you really think he would feel bothered by a few compliments? I didn't see anyone asking him for a reply.
Seemed like a valid, harmless question to me, Damir.
