Behringer DR 400 reviews

Post by Robert Cates »

Has anyone ever tried the Behringer DR 400 and compared it to the Boss RV 3. I realize that Boss stuff is hard to beat but how does the Behringer measure up?
Thanks

Earth to steel guitar forum... COME IN...Over
Do you read me ..Over
Do you guys mean to tell me that NOBODY has tried a DR 400

I found a place on the internet that sells them for 29.99. Thats CHEAP. A person could buy one and throw it away after a year and buy another one

Forgive me for ranting on here but no one will answer my posts so I have to answer myself...sigh
Regards

Try a search of the "Electronics" section, there was a review of this unit posted a while back.

There is a lot of Behringer info on the bass forum, and very little, if any is positive. Buy it, use it til it breaks, toss it, seems to be the general opinion. Their bass amps are junk, and usually break on the gig. Buy at your own risk.

I have several Behringer pedals including 2 of the DR400s. I like them quite a bit and, in my opinion, they seem to be fairly close to an RV3-3. I'm not a gigging musician, so I can't attest to their durability, but I do think they have a nice sound & their controls are identical to the RV-3.

If you set the DR400 up with your favorite RV-3 settings, you'll find that you usually have to adjust them a tad to get them to match better.

For the price, I really don't think you can beat them. I think I purchased a new one on Ebay for $29. Not too bad of a deal!!! If you have an RV-3 and you're trying to keep it in nice shape, or you gig at a shady kind of place, then the DR400 is a pretty good idea.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thank you

Thank you guys for your comments. Its really goes back to the same old thing doesn't it. You get what you pay for!!!.
But it is very appealing price for one of these and you never know ,sometimes you can get a very good replica of the original(in this case the RV-3) and it works fine.
I guess it doesn't "measure up" to the boss product
Thanks for your input. Maybe I'll try one someday if I ever play in those shady places that Casey is talking about

Personally, I think it comes pretty damn close. The only way you can get closer, is to get an old RV-3.

I hate a company like Behringer that takes somebody else's product, copies it and comes out with a cheap clone.
No research and development expense, just live off somebody else's efforts. :whoa:

discontinued rv3

Post by Robert Cates »

That may be so Erv but why did Boss discontinue a very desirable product. Maybe they want you to buy 2 of their pedals to take place of one. Which translates into more money in their pockets.
If another company can produce the pedal that everyone wants for less money??? Welcome to free enterprise capitalist system that we have.
Now thats another whole discussion..Sorry..I'm ranting and raving again

Hi, the sound in this pedal is very good in my opinion. Here is a clip I use it in, I think it sounds very good.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE81-j8srfA
BUT!! , the input connectors are the direct on printcard-type. Not very solid. And even though My pedals are mounted on pedalboards, after about six months I started having problems with bad connection. I have now replaced it with a Boss RV5.
But again, all in all, very much sound for the money.

I wouldn't consider it free enterprise when the product is being produced in China. :whoa:

the fact is you cant get much that isnt made in China you can Blame it a lot on
a great many things but at the top of the list
I blame our Government if we had less
tax in this country mabe all our industry
wouldnt have moved out causing a loss of jobs
and income.....I bought a small fender amp

Tor
You guys are sounding good. But I am sure that no one can tell if you have a delay/reverb made by behringer, boss, digitech or one made in Kallamazoo. Just the way it is. So if no one can tell the difference than maybe the cheap one is the best way to go...sounds good to me!!!!!

Erv
We really have destroyed ourselves haven't we? No one will work in this country for 8 or 9 dollars per hour when one can stay home and get more than that handed to them by the goverment. Who do we blame..the people, the big companies, the goverment the unions...who???..and how do we fix it?..

I hope we can pull out of all this and get it right the next time around

I'm afraid that you are right. Prices have gotten out of line. Labor has gone thru the roof. Greed is running rampant and the tax payer are paying the price.

I say let it all collapse and start over

Post by Robert Cates »

Thats right ..lets wait and see. Its hard to not be gloomy the ways things are going but lets hope that we all can keep our electricity running in our homes so that we can play our guitars.
Who was it that said

"this is NOT your grandmothers America anymore"
Boy..is that true

Just a thought..Are we off subject of this thread???

Bob

Wait a minute..this is my thread and I can change the subject if I want to...Can't I..or do I have to get permission from the government....
Besides, what better place to discuss the woes of the country than in the electronic section of the Steel Guitar Forum under DR400

Dr 400

I am curious why no one it seems, especially the two heavy hitters in the musical supply business (Musician's Friend, AMS)is carrying this pedal. AMS appears to carry the complete Behringer line with this one exception. After a search, the only source for this unit I could locate is a camera supply house.

I dont know either David it sure leaves a lot of
questions unanswered
the one I got from a forum member about a year ago
it was in a bubble pack he had played it
twice and said he liked the rv better
I think he got his in a music store
I played it and liked it a lot
another forum member got one and he said his
had a lot of noise in his
mine still works great.......
which is a good thing cause an rv-3 is out for me right now the banks dry heheh
