Ron,
Not enough bandwidth here for Erv's list.

Each one I own has a different character to it. I play different guitars depending on the band and type of music being played (and my mood at the moment). I don't consider that hoarding. I have actually taken 2 guitars to a gig and switched between sets.I own one, in todays economy I feel lucky to have it. I consider anyone with more than 2 pedal steels a guitar hoarder. Smile

Ron,
I really need to sit down and do an accurate accounting. But I'm a poor bookkeeper.
I like to get my oldest grandson up in the loft and start showing him guitars. I open up a case and am suprised to see a guitar that I'd forgotten all about. It's just like Christmas all over again.
My wife says that I have a compulsive personality and I guess she's right. You gentlemen have to remember, however, that I've been at this business for over 50 years now. In my youth I thought that you could only own one guitar at a time but I've learned differently!
I really like regular 6 string guitars, also. They really are more attractive than the ones we lay on our lap to play, especially the acoustic models.
I have some very nice Gibsons and Martins.

Why would anyone need more than one pedal steel? Then again, it's not about need, it's about being surrounded by exquisite instruments. Todd Clinesmith was here and when he started playing Joaquin's D-8 Bigsby lap guitar, a guitar built by my hero and played by my hero, that I consider to be one of the Holy Grails, he got chills up his spine. These are not just objects.I consider anyone with more than 2 pedal steels a guitar hoarder.

That 1000 looks great! but i am afraid it is goingto go for more than I have to spend and I dont really want a doubleneck anyway because my back is in such bad shape (I kow even the 400's are very heavy).Don Brown, Sr. wrote:There was a Fender 1000 also a 400 on ebay, two days ago. The 1000, looked to be in real good condition. 8 pedals... Cables were all there, or seemed to be. Just type in "Pedal Steel Guitar" I don't have the item number.
There have been a couple 400's here on the forum but I have a hard time buying from sellers with only one post after that epoisode with "the dart". The ebay 400's are alwasy priced WAY out of line it seems. They usually want $1000 for em because they are "vintage" fenders i guess. I will find one at a reasonable price soon I am sure..well not sure...but am hopeful

It's great! It's got lots more storage than my old Skeeter, and a much smoother ride. And not that I'm a speed freak, but I got it up to 62.4 mph on the GPS. Not bad for a 150 Yamaha on an 18'6"er. That's fast enough for me. Of course, trimmed up to the brink of porpoising, only me in the boat, little gas in the tank, water like glass and no wind.Chris Lucker wrote:How is that boat?
The fish haven't gotten any bigger though. Whassup with 'dat?
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

I think this question is a good candidate for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".
I think that's been true for at least the last 20 years continuously, but never more true than now.To look at it from another angle, I would rather have my money "invested" in fine musical instruments than most stocks now being traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
