 Jerry, I didn't have any dessert fixed for him, so maybe that's why he left. ;-)

No, we had a great time and he even offered to buy our supper and feed us.

Hi Bill. Lee Ogle and I have a pact that if any cherry pie or cherry cheesecake comes through the kitchen, I keep it back for the two of us to split. ;-)

This does not sound good. I thought Fred was bad but now I'm finding that you two are just as bad. At least Fred dosen't hide the food, he just eats it all. Maybe Venda will stash me a peice somewhere.

Did someone say Fred looks like a possum when he eats? Does a possum look anything like a marsupial called an opossum? We have an opossum visitor at night that likes our cat food. Our little dog Poo hates the opossum. When I saw that U-Tube video of Austin playing the Connie Smith tune, "I'll Come Runnin", it convinced me Austin's playing has progressed far beyond my playing or grandfather's playing. I can't think that fast. I was 19 years old before I learned how to wavey BY BY. Austin, don't forget, you are going to hook me up in Baxter. You hooked me up last year and really spoiled me.

We got the chairs setup, the PA setup, and I saw Fred in shorts. Now I don't think I can eat any cherry pie. Or anything else for that matter.

Baxter Springs Steel Show

Post by Larry Baker »

Returned home last nite about 10 pm from the show. What a great show it was. We left Sat. afternoon, much to our regret, but needed to go to the Bobby Caldwell benefit today in St. Louis. So off we go again. Would like to extend my appreciation to Ray, Lee, and the rest of the crew for their invitation to the show, and the hospitality from everyone involved. It was a great time. And what a job the ladies did with the food. Also many thanks to the Band, Roy and all the rest for their help to a beginning player. And of course many thanks to Rob Parker for his continued support and encouragement. Larry and Jean

This was a great show! I got to see alot of my dear friends and make some new ones.

I didn't get to hear everyone, but the players I heard all sounded great. The backup band was super!

Next, I loved Jerry Horner's pickin' and especially his opening song his rendition of "Old Joe Clark," it reminded me alot of the Great Jimmy Crawford's arrangement. Jerry was really funny too. I hope he comes to play on our Marshfield Steel Guitar show next year.

Really liked my friend Pastor Cliff Waterman's swingin' arrangements on some classic songs. He plays and makes those complicated songs sound so easy to do. He's a great player and great guy!

It was also a pleasure to finally meet Ben Jack. I have wanted to meet him for a long time. Ben and I got to talk at length about our mutual friend and one of my steel heroes the late Bob White. They grewup together and went to the same school. Both men played for Hank Thompson and the Brazos Valley Boys. Ben produced one of the best steel guitar albums ever recorded in my opinion, and that was Bob White's "Steel Trek" album. If you don't have it in your collection you all need to try and find it. The arrangements and Bob's playin' were just super on it. It still sounds as modern today, as did when it was released in the late 1970s.

In closing my wife Lisa and I really enjoyed the Route 66 Steel Show! Thanks so much for letting us be with you all!

GOD bless!

Terry Wood
