I just wanted to say I have met alot of Steel players at the Station Inn over this past year. The steel community is blessed with some real nice folks. This year is the first year since the early eighties that I have played out on a regular basis and it is heartwarming to see folks show up that I haven't seen in years, And especially to meet new friends!

I also posted in the International convention thread about Jean Hughey, Fran Newman, and Mom and Dad at the convention. Jean will have some new stuff, So will Fran. Mom and Dad will also have some new instruction available. Check out Jeff's picks. They are the best I've ever used.

Hey Paul,
It's a real treat to be able to drift over to the Station Inn on Monday nights and hear you play live. It kind of reminds me of those days when you played at the Hall of Fame hotel lounge back in the 80's. I always leave the building inspired after hearing you and the entire band play. Keep it going; it's a lot of fun to hear!

I met you briefly at the Station Inn in March. You are a nice guy who I found to be extremely polite and approachable. Your playing was classy and so was your personality. Good sense of humour too.

That gig just has to be the ultimate to play in. All of the players and singers in the Time Jumpers are world class, yet unpretentious.

Where I was sitting (right near the front obviously) there were 5 steel players at one table alone. I wonder why??

HI Paul,
the last time that I spoke to you in person
was in Sydney in the mid 90"s , you were with
Dire Straits at the time and you dropped in at
my Gig not far from the Sydney Entertainment
centre . And you sat in with the Band .
I will never forget that night, and if I ever get
to Nashville again I will be there at the Station
Inn for sure .

Hey Paul, I for one am glad to see that your out playing venues where regular guys like me can come hang out and really enjoy the live shows. Your studio work is always no less than spectacular but to be in the same room and absorb the magic is real special.

Speaking of Shows, I hope to see you and visit with you again at the NTSGA show in October. Last year was just great.

Paul, I used to play in a band with Tim and Dennis Crouch. I think Dennis is still with the "Time Jumpers" playing upright bass. If you think of it please tell him hello for me. I am proud of the success he has had in Nashville.

That was quite a band, Tim Crouch who is now with Mike Snider playing fiddle, Dennis on upright bass, a banjo player from Texas, Francis Harderson, flat top and let by a very funny Bill Mounce. The band was Bill Mounce and The Outlaws. I played Dobro and even got into the bluegrass circuit with a pedal steel a few times.

Good to see a fellow Michigander posting especially the little kid from the Rem Wall Green Valley Jamboree show.

Just a big thank you, for signing my jacket,taking time to talk and be in some pics with me. I will be off the road and back in Nashville Sept 8th. Hey Paul, I got to hear you with the Time Jumpers just last month ( on the 21st) and to say I came away with a new inspiration to work even harder at becoming a better player is saying the least! Heck, it was a pleasure to help you haul your gear out at the end of the night!

Not to derail this post, but Dave Burley what do you know about Rem Wall? I'm from Michigan, and my mom told me she and my grandfather used to go see him play. I've always been curious about him, but she was too young at the time to remember much. Thanks.

In response to a question about Rem Wall...........
Rem Wall had a Saturday afternoon live country music TV show on WKZO out of Kalamazoo, Mich. for probably twenty years or so. Paul Franklin, as a young teenager, was a frequent guest on the Green Valley Jamboree.
Rem Worked for Gibson for most of his life and is now deceased. He was very popular in Western Michigan and had many name guests as they passed through. Not much on TV for country fans back in those days. I played the Morning Show five days a week in Grand Rapids which was on WZZM TV. Hosted by Big Bud Lindemann, it featured Bob Duncan and the Stringalongs and I recall doing a show or two with Rem and the Green Valley Boys.

Hello, Paul...

Will you be at the 'Inn' on September 8th?

I'll be leaving North Dakota (my Summer-long gig will be ending 9/6) and, with a bit of an effort and two days of sustained driving, I can be in Nashville by that Monday night.

Leaving my car outside the gig when it's full of all my gear is a bit nerve-wracking, but I'm longing to see you playing with that band!!!

Paul, enjoyed seeing and visiting with you earlier this month in nashville. Two great shows, Monday with the timejumpers and tuesday with the players.
The players show probably was the best live show i've ever seen. Got to talk with Mike Johnson also, and my son got to talk with his hero Brent Mason.
Don't miss these two shows if you get a chance.

The Players band consist of top session players in town NOT playing tradional country, but different styles of music. The place is 3rd and Lindsey bar and grill. It's a small place so you can get close up to see some great picking. They will be playing there 9/9/08 next tuesday. The band consist of Paul Franklin, Brent Mason, Michael Rhodes John Hobbs, and Eddie Bayers. Search youtube for paul franklin and the players to see and hear some clips.
