It's the "Lloyd Green" model Sho~Bud*. A single neck E9 on the front, with an armrest/pad replacing the C6 neck.

Search Buy & Sell and you'll surely find some photos of recent ones offered for sale.

* I believe 'LDG' actually stands for Lloyd and Dot (his wife) Green

Ok, here's this mans' sad story about C6
Once upon a time I wanted the C6 back in '66. But first I had to learn E9 or that's what the parents said. After I learn E9 ok then I had to comeup with the $ for C6.
Anyway here it is years (too many) later I got a D10 and spent the last 4 years learning on it. Being of a jazz guitar background I learned alot fast. I like those big fat jazz chords soooooo much. Rak'n, Quak'n, I FEEL the love here.
Well I moonlight on steel about twice a month. I play with a great bunch of guys.
HOWEVER, (my eyes are starting to well up now)
when I go for that fat chord it doesn't sound good by itself most of the time BECAUSE the bass has to play a different note (think of 6&7 pedal chord passing from 1 to 4 chord)AND the drum many times needs to accent it. So with that I just play the jazz chords available on E9 which are basically like the C6 with pedals 5,6, and almost the boowhaa of 8.
But I still have fun playing C6 at home!

What a great story! I'm laughin' because it's kinda like my own story, only a world apart! In my case, it was around the time of the Beatles and I (like everybody) wanted to learn to play guitar but my parents said I'd first have to learn to play the CELLO! LOL! At least your enlightened parents had a clue what the difference was between E9 and C6. I guess they wanted you to be able to get to Kroger (grocery store) rather than to St Louis (ISGC), as Doug Jernigan would say. :)

I know that there are a lot of people who post here voicing their opposition to the 6th tuning. They seem to be concerned about the ability to get work playing the steel. It's a valid point that they make. However, if one looks at one neck as the Kroger Neck, and the other as the St Louis Neck, then is it too far a stretch to say "You know, that's why I now play the record scratching back beat on a turntable in a Hip Hop band, because that's where the work is"? (Just kidding) The Kroger turntable VS. the St. Louis sampling software debate is down the road a bit. The C6th tuning is there for anyone who wants it. There are a lot of people (listeners and players alike) who love wing jazz and blues on 6th tuning...always will.

JEFF NEWMAN ONCE SAID THAT PLAYING TWO DIFFERENT TUNINGS WAS LIKE TRYING TO CONTROL TWO DIFFERENT WOMEN.

Very nice bOb. I agree that the 6th tuning on pedal steel is great for most genres of music. I think that trying to "control", even one woman is impossible, but playing with two woman sounds like fun.

Given that there's so little steel guitar on commercial country radio anymore and most all of the steel players I listen to play either C6th or universal :alien:, I might rephrase the question slightly:
Did E9th cliches kill country steel guitar?

What Pete Burak said. The 6th tuning never even comes close to being RIP here in this neck of the woods. Lots of it played here..prolly more than the 9th tunings by a long shot.

I don't think C6 is dying out, no way. Fred Shannon was right about that. I made lots of money playing C6-A6-Bb6 (Reece inspired me to play his tuning)

But I played mostley E6 as Alvino Rey did .But when E9th got popular and you had to adapt to it, then I did play E9 for a few years of my years of playing. But even then, in Phoenix ,or on TV, I played western swing on the C6 neck on my Emmons, and always enjoyed playing bot the C6 and E9. I found I could play a lot of blues and more advanced tunes on the E9 too. It is all music in one way or another.....al.:):)

David M, most of the steel players you listen to are playing C6th or uni, it does help to be versatile. However I feel majority of music today favors E9th.

One thing that could help out alot is some updated C6th courses.

You can tell a Harley owner by the bugs on his teeth.
You can tell a D-10 owner by the string grooves in his forearms.
You can't tell a Duck Plucker anything.

I was fortunate to do a session this week for a Childrens Hawaiian Adventure CD, I did it all on the C6th inside 6 string tuning, C,E,G,A,C,E .

The C6th may very well be dead, but it wasn't Monday night !

I hated that I had to carry that E9th neck around with me !
