Post by Ken Latchum »

FOR THOSE THAT MAY NOT KNOW IT YET! WE WANT ALL OF OUR FOLKS IN THE MASGA AND FRIENDS TO KNOW THAT THE EVENT IN MOUNTAIN CITY TN JULY 27 AND 28 IS A MASGA SPONSORD EVENT AND IS BEING PROMOTED BY MR. BRYAN ADAMS AND MR MIKE SWEENEY(TWO GREAT STEEL PLAYERS)AND A COUPLE OF BRYAN'S CLOSE FRIENDS. WE NEED A GOOD NUMBER OF OUR FOLKS TO BE REPRESENTED THERE TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT FOR ALL THEIR HARD WORK IN PROMOTING THIS EVENT. FROM WHAT I SEE ON THE FORUM, IT APPEARS THERE IS GOING TO BE A GOOD NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS. IF YOU MISS THIS ONE I AM SURE YOU WILL BE THE ONE THAT LOOSES OUT. I HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE.

Hi Sam:
Part of this MASGA JAM is for the guys like you and myself that want to learn and take the opportunity to play infont of other folks regardless how good or how bad we consider ourselves as players. Not everybody is born with nerves of steel and with picks on their fingers and we will only gain that confidence by playing out infront of other folks. It doesn't do us any real good to be bedroom pickers the rest of our lives. Especially when we love the Steel Guitar so much. So I am encourging you to bring your steel and if you make mistakes infront of other folks SO-WHAT. They had to start somewhere and believe me! I am sure it comes a lot easier to some than it does others especially when most of them started at a younger age and most were probably an accomplished player on a standard guitar or some other instrument. So Bring your guitar and Chime in when it fits for you and when it doesn't pass it on to someone else.
Good Luck Ken

Thanks for the encoragement Ken I'll be bringing my steel I'm not a Quiter and I won't let this Steel get the best of me. OK this is very important to every one that has booked a room at the Mt. City Holet. I called them this morning after making my reservations last night because I forgot to ask the name of the Hotel and the Woman said it is the Mt. City Hotel but buy the time we get there the 27th and the 28th it will be the DAYS INN so look for the Day Inn instead of the MT.City Hotel.

Thanks Boo for the encorragement and you are right if I leave it home I might miss something I may be able to pick up.I spent 4 hours over at Ray Walkers house today and I think he has me going in the right direction. My big problem is I have got to learn the cords and Ray said I found out where you are comming from now. I know nothing about music. All I ever done was listen to good old country music and wish that I could some day play a Pedal Steel Guitar and I started 5 years ago at 60 years old. Hey maybe I won't be able to play Steel I might be to old but I'm going to give it my best shot.

Does anyone know what type of format the Mt. City Jam is going to be using to accomodate all the steelers and is there going to be a live band. Just curious about some of the particulars? That would be some good information to have everyone know in advance.

Ken, I was over at Bryan's today and we were going over all the details, etc. for the show. We will have a live band with some great musicians. We will also have a sound system with cd player for those who wish to play with their sound tracks. We should follow the same format as our last few M.A.S.G.A. shows. Please bring Mr. Stadler with you. There will be plenty of room for him to set up his fine guitars. Thanks!

Hi Mike! How full are my pockets going to have to be filled up to purchase both CD's at Mt. City!! You know the farther away you live from Nashville our pockets aren't filled up as much and not as often. Ha-Ha-Ha. You know I come from Salisbury Md. and you know there is no way to fill pockets up there. Isn't that true BOO!!

Ken,

Mike is working tonight but I thought I would go ahead and pass along the info. The
CDs are $10.00 and the tracks are $8.00. Hope that won't hurt your pockets too much.
See you there.
