Bobby Terry from Houston and I believe in Nashville now as a recording engineer. I have a gospel 'cassette' where he played all instruments including pedal steel, lead guitar, fiddle, etc., etc. A great and typical Texas player that excels in all stringed instruments.
Could some of our Houston area buddies add to the above?

David Amram has been one of my musical heros since I was a kid. I'm a french horn player (it was my job for many years)and Dave is one of the best. I got to meet him a few times and he was even nice enough to give me an impromtu lesson over the phone one day when I called with a question. Very nice guy who really does play just about everything. I guess that's where I got my interest in playing many different instruments.David Amran and David Lindley come to my mind.....

Richard It was pretty hard to find a pedal steel in Central NY state in 1957. So no, I never did see him sit down at pedal steel, and play it well. I did see him play a lap steel. It was three years later when I actually saw my first pedal steel up close in person. Twelve year old kids weren't allowed in bars, and clubs back when i was growing up. As an aside , I sincerly thought the thread was started to identify people who were proficent with instruments played in the various forms of American music we hear today. Sorry if you were offended by the narrow band width in thinking I applied to this topic. John

John,
No offense taken at all. What is wrong here is the actual question. It is impossible to answer. I'm not trying to get into a flaming contest, I just don't think anyone on earth fits the bill as the question is worded. Now multi-instrument players, millions of them exist in this world.
