If you haven't made lodging reservations for the Northeast Iowa Steel Guitar Show yet, now is the time. Show room rates hold through February 10.
With headliners like Ron Elliott and Scotty, 30 steel players from five Midwest states, plus the usual large number of people attending who love steel guitar and love to dance, it promises to be a good show. Mark your calendars now and plan to join us February 22-24 at the Electric Park Ballroom in Waterloo, IA.
For details, go to our website, www.steelguitarjam.com.

Sounds almost too personal? I'm sure the phrase, "keep your hands to yourself" was derived from this? It can be a complicated situation when hands don't get along or when one hand cheats on the other. I'm sure Dear Abby would suggest holding hands with yourself as much as possible ("get a grip on yourself"). Fighting hands is worse than restless legs. If you have both, you really have problems!

Reminder: The informal friday night jam is 6pm - 10pm at the Electric Park Ballroom. We'll set up in a circle on the dance floor. Pickers, singers and dancers welcome. Some of the vendors will be there also.
You should try a set of Jagwire strings, if you haven't already been hooked on them. I'm old and have tried ALL brands. I tried a set of Jagwires three years ago and found them superior in every aspect.

I knew a guitar player one time that only changed strings once a year and he used the strings that the steel player took off...................

The weather is going to be OUTSTANDING for this show. I have severe cabin fever and I need to get out and raise the dickens in a constructive way.

My mentor used to take his strings off, boil them and put them back on. Seemed to bring them back to life, but I have my doubts about intonation. :)

Dennis, he would boil the strings, throw away the strings and drink the water. :whoa:

Looking forward to a great show, I have to have surgery done on Thursday and remove this left thumb on my right hand.

Roger, try circumcising it before removing it. Tone to the bone!
Drink the water? You never know where those strings have been!

Roger,

Don't worry about surgery. I'll fed-x a weed-eater to Lefty and he can remove anything you need.

I regret to say that I need to officially cancel my slot at this year's show. We are receiving the brunt of a major winter storm. The modot map shows all routes going north of Springfield, MO are snow and ice covered, with the forecast saying that the storm will hang around another 24-30 hours. I held off doing this as long as I could in the hope that the forecast would be wrong, but it was not.

To Lefty, Dennis, and Kirk, please accept my sincere apologies, but it looks like we're in for a bad one and the risk is too great. I was honored by the invitation, and if in the future you feel you can extend me another, I'll make every effort to get there. I extend my best wishes to all of you.

Mike,
"We'll keep the light on for ya!" :)
Winter events are always a risk. Unfortunately, the path of this storm has literally cut us off from the south.
We were looking forward to having you debute at the NEISGS. But, we'll try again next time.
Now, someone else has to close for me??
:)
We'll keep in touch old friend!

We will be doing our annual gig at Paulie's Place Friday night also. So when those of you get bored(like that would happen) come over to Paulie's. We'll be there from 8-12. Bring your favorite instrument and set in.
