Texas Steel Jamboree reservations

Post by Herb Steiner »

Charlie Norris called and asked me to remind you folks to make your reservations for next year's TSGA Jamboree, since the hotel is filling up.

As many of y'all know, the Jamboree has moved (for 2002 ONLY!) from the 2nd weekend of March to March 21-24, 2002 at the same great hotel, the Harvey DFW.

We have the same list of usual suspects that make the Jamboree the second-largest of the steel shows, second only to Scotty's ISGC. For many, the Jamboree is their favorite show. Plus, there are several players scheduled to play, among them the great Jerry Brightman, that have not performed for us before, or in quite a while. And of course, our backup musicians are also world-class, IMHO.

For more information about the TSGA Jamboree, go to our website below, or click here for everything you need to know.

Since I'm the webmaster of the TSGA, if you send an email to the website, you'll reach yours truly and I'll try to answer any questions you might have, or put you in touch with someone who DOES have the answer.

Regardless, come on down to Texas... for a while, anyway Image

Herb, looking forward to being there. If as good as last year everyone should go.

Hi Folks ,

I made Harvey Hotel reservations long ago for me and my wife of 48 years but I'm like SOME newlywed's --it will be my first time !! (AT A STEEL GUITAR CONVENTION THAT IS ) My gigs , during the many previous years of convention dates, have prevented me from attending . I've already advised my current "powers -to - be " that I'll be gone those dates (in Dallas) in March this year (02) !! Maybe I'll have a job when I get back or maybe not , but at my age( 65 + ),I want to attend at least one of the conventions and Dallas is within driving distance so, hopefully , I can take in all the good pick'n that goes on . I'm not worried about "no job" , by the way !I'll bet I'll want to have a " barn fire" with all my Zum and Stereo Steel stuff after hearing some of the GREATS play but I guess I'll take my chances !!!!!

Any suggestions for a "newbie" at the convention ??? Anything you might think of that will help a new visitor ?

Thanks and look forward to meeting some of the fine folks I've been seeing and learning from on this fine forum . Thanks to b0b!!

Thanks and hope to see Ya ,
John

Be sure to stop by the Fessenden and Stereo Steel booths several times. They're right beside each other just outside the main hall. Lots of pickers are always chewing the fat with Jerry and GD Walker. I spend a lot of time there too. Image

Get a colored dot for your badge from the Carter booth to show that you're a Forum member and be sure to introduce yourself to any and all people there. We're all one big happy family and are glad to welcome a newcomer. Image
