Michael, go to links above... all the info you seek is there. Also, you can change guages on sets if you wish. I use a 28 wound instead of a 26 on my C-6 neck as I find it picks up better. b0b will get your strings to you within 4 to 5 days, tops. I have received them within 3 days. Piece of cake. :)

Hey Danny, I ordered some Jags from b0b today. How does a feller get one of those white Jagwire decals for the front of the axe? 8)

Jim, we are out of the white Jagwire decals right now, and all we have is black, and a halogram chrome-type in stock. We'll be sure to let you know when we get more white decals.

Thanks for your interest.

Roy, the 5th string is an .018. Have another look. This is Paul's personal choice of the gauges he uses, and they are as listed on the previous page on the Forum here. Regina made an error on the web site, and she will have to correct that.

Thanks for pointing that out.

I used GHS strings for 20 + years and really liked them. Now that I've tried the Jagwire U12 strings I won't use anything else. They have been great!

I think it's interesting that Paul Franklin, the most often heard steel guitarist on the radio today, prefers nickel wound strings. There is quite a difference in tone between nickel and stainless. Many of today's top pros prefer stainless, but my sales figures lean towards nickel. I personally feel that nickel wounds have the more traditional sound.

Paul's gauges are on the heavy side. What's the scale length of a Franklin pedal steel? I know that these gauges would be pretty tight on my Williams. The .012 G# always makes me nervous.

Danny, are there any plans to market Paul's baritone E9th set or his lap-strat C6th? If not, it would be interesting to see the gauge listings, at least.

I too used GHS almost exclusively for a long time but have switched over to the Jagwires for several years now & on occaision try a different brand for kicks but always return to the Jags.......gotta be nickel of course ;-)

Danny, anymore T-shirts in the works or available?

b0b. There aren't any immediate plans for marketing Paul's other unique tunings such as his Baritone E-9th. and Lap-Strat C-6th. at this time, however, if there is enough interest in this from the players then perhaps we can consider it? I will discuss this with Paul next time I speak with him.

Kevin, yes we do have plans on doing some new Jagwire Tee-Shirts in the near future, and when we do, we'll be sure to announce it here.

There are many new developments happening at Jagwire including some new Push-Pull sets we developed that received rave reviews from more than 50 participants in the test marketing we did. We will probably be making those available soon, and of course, b0b will most likely have them available here.

Stay tuned, as there is much more to come yet from Jagwire Strings.

Paul I would be interested in your thoughts on why you prefer nickel over stainless? And what is the scale length of your Franklin guitars? Congratulations on your string choice by the way, I have found them to be outstanding.

I think the Franklin guitar is a 24 1/4 scale. I use Pauls gauges except the 6th, I use a W22 and my JCH is 24 1/4 and I have no problems with the heavy gauges.

Welcome Paul!

As you've already discovered, Danny and the Jagwire crew are first class. You can always be assured that quality is their main concern.

My favorite string to use before using Jagwires were the Franklin strings.

I put a set of Jagwires on my steel for the warm up show for Willie Nelson about a year and a half ago. I was going to wait until I broke a string before I changed them. Well, I am still waiting for a string to break. These strings are amazing. They last forever. The tone does not seem to change with age.

I just got 4 more sets of Jag Wire strings and one dozen 11.5 gauge for the 3rd string today from Herby Wallace. I have been using Jag Wire strings for about 4 years now and two sets of the ones I got today and 6 of the 11.5 gauge strings are going to my buddy Ralph Paulin as I sold him on Jag Wire Strings and he loves them.

hi

Post by Ernest Cawby »

I have been using Herby Wallace Jags for over 2 years, not one string breakage yet, they stay on so long I change them just to make sure they are still bright sounding. I feel guilty if I leave them on so long. I use them on my Carter and Professional D10 Shobud. Also on the Fender 1000.
I forgot to mention I have had about 30 people come to me at the last 3 shows and tell me how good a sound I have on my guitar, Russ Hicks and Joe turner was among them at Saluda in Nov.
As we were leaving a lady turned of her motor on her car and came over gave me a hug and said I enjoyed your set and the sound was very good, an't life grand.

Hi Ernie,

If your FENDER 1000 has the 23 inch scale length, do you use lighter gauge strings?

Interesting to see more and more use of .012 on G#. That's what I use on my push/pull, never breaks and sound better than .010 in my ears (Jagwire of course).
