Both myself and my wife are Libra.

Ernest, My wife and I have been doing a lot of reading and studing, and to what we've found out is, that Christ was conceived on or around Dec 25 and was borned the last week in Sept or first week in Oct. Those were the times of theharvest in that area when all the people would have been in town selling their goods and all the rooms were taken. So I aree with what you said in your post.

virgo

the Romans changed there pagan holidays to christian when Constantine converted. Since by then the Roman empire had many Germans and Celts thier holidays and traditions where entrained into the Empire's culture.

easter=celtic (ester British fertility goddess, rebirth with the egg and all)
Christmas date=Roman winter solstice
Christmas tree=pre-christian german, They took the only plant that lived through the winter inside with them
spending madness = American

Constantine said,,its all roman now, and so is the church. It stuck even after the reformation

Being a former Lay Pastor I will add a little about Jesus' birthday. Since the bureau of vital statistics in Israel hadn't been established at that time, no births were recorded. However, Biblical history has determined that Jesus was about thirty three and a half years old at the time He was crucified and that was around 29 or 30 AD. That would have put His birth at about 4 BC. The December 25th date was established by early Christians to counter pagan celebrations being held. It doesn't really matter when He was born, only that He was and why. No sermon intended nor any offense toward those who may believe differently. Incidently I'm a Scorpio. Any other Scorpios out there??
Respectfully,

Constatine recognized that religions and ideoligies were the basics behind all wars. In an attemtpt to bring peace, he brought all the known religous orders together to the Nicene Convention to create the Roman Catholic (latin interpretation "universal") and everything follows from there.
The December 25th date was established by early Christians to counter pagan celebrations being held.
I think coincide might be a better choice of words (IMHO)

"Taylor's Chowder House"

The only place in Arizona where a Boston boy can get manna from heaven: fried clams with the stomachs . . . and only 2 1/2 miles from my house!
