I am in need of a new seat. I have a drum stool that has worked very well with my SD10, but not so good with the double-neck. I'd like to know what seats you guys use with your double neck guitars.

I currently have a Steeler's Choice "Sidekick" seat with back. Aside from ones I used to build it's the best seat on the market, and probably the most popular.

Let me just say that I am sure there are several good sets available and I am not familiar with all of them. I just wanted to put my two cents in though. Mine has a back rest and the side accesory copmartment and I think they are both a must. I do not rest against the back when I am actually playing but between songs and other break time I do lean back and it relieves the tension that builds up. It really has made a difference over the years. The side compartment allows you to get access most things you need without getting up and turing around to open the seat. Always seems like everthing has to be adjusted again once you do that. I do not have the power strip but I can see that it would be of benefit too. Especially now that I have a Hilton pedal that needs plugged in.
Just my opinions.

I have one of the Walker seats manufactured by Ray Walker in North Carolina. It's the best seat I've ever seen and I can't see ever having to buy another! It's sturdy and very well constructed, looks great, and will probably last me the rest of my life...............JH in Va.

In my opinion the Steeler's Choice is the best made, most comfortable seat that I have owned. With the back rest and sidecar it is pretty big and heavy. Also the box is not very deep. I find myself using my GFI seat with its cheap hardware store latches and wobbly legs just because it can hold everything and it doesn't feel like I'm dragging around the kitchen sink with me.

I sit on a Walker Professional Players Chair. Standard Model, no back rest, no side car. The amount of storage is just right for me and to top it all off it has my last name on it!

Joe,
I'll chime in with Jerry on Ray Walker's seats...top notch seat! I don't believe you'll go wrong either way...Steeler's Choice or a Walker...if you do get one, strongly suggest you get one with a back...didn't think I really needed it until I had it...really helps! Carl

I use the Steeler's Choice with a backrest and a side car compartment. As mentioned above, being able to rest your back between songs really helps you to play better with a lot less tension.

I bought the side comparment for easy access also. However the main benefit of it is leaving it open while you play, and using it's padded cover to set your bars, picks and tuning wrench on !

I have two Steelers' Choice Sidekick seats. As stated above, the side compartment is invaluable for everything you might need - I keep strings in the rearmost pocket, and tools, spare picks, tuning-wrenches, etc in the front one.

And... for those long and tedious production runs immediately prior to a show's opening night, a cup of coffee will sit securely in one of the deep pockets. The open lid is great for pens, pencils, picks and bar, and the backrest is a must for a four-hour call.

Even if I'm doing a guitar-only gig, I still take my Rollans seat on the job - there's never yet been an available chair at a theater that rivals mine for comfort!.

I had Ken fit 21.5" legs to both mine - they're now the perfect height for me.

RR

Oh - and as I'm currently tipping the scales at 236 pounds, they're pretty sturdy, too!

Roger,
That is very important as I am in the same ballpark pound-wise, in fact, I'm a little over that.

i have a steeler's choice seat also, but i leave it set up at home. my old sho-bud pak-a-seat is lighter, easier to move around on and more compact......i use it on all my gigs!
i redid the cushion on top since it flattened out after 30 years of my big butt....now it's got a yellow naugahyde top.

Hey, Joe!

I've just seen your location - Glendive.

That's not far from my Summer gig in Medora, ND - I did it in '02, '06 and '07 - and may well do it again in '08. It runs from late-May to Labor Day - maybe we could get together?
