I'd like to announce a couple of new steel players to our family. Long time friends: Al Kabela from Ames, Iowa. Formerly a member of the Blue Sky Band and now with Jason Brown Band from Des Moines. Also Emmons style player and former player from the Ozark Jubilee, Mike McGee.
As Kirk said, we will have our usual informal circle style jam at the Ballroom this year. More convenient to bring your gear in early, set up and pick a while.
There should be a good variety of styles and tunes for the show this year along with the highlight performances of Ron Elliot and Scotty (Dewitt Scott).
We always look forward to Michael and Lana and Steel Radio.
Leave your ice picks and ice cleat shoes at home this year. There's no ice in the forecast!! Maybe a heatwave?
Lana, Kirk posted this on the 17th. Your post is dated 18th and it's still the 17th.You replied tomorrow already? How do you do that? You must be a Psychic??(new word!) :)

The 2008 Northeast Iowa Steel Show, February 23-24, Waterloo is shaping up to be another exciting event beginning with a circle jam at the Electric Park Ballroom on February 22. If you're interested in jamming w/ us Friday night be sure to bring your steel.
Saturday and Sunday the stage will graced by two fantastic headliners--1) the awesome, smooth, inspiring Ron Elliot and 2) the talented Master of the Frypan and founder of the International Steel Guitar Convention, DeWitt Scott. We're so glad Ron & Leslie and Scotty and Mary will be with us.
A big Northeast Iowa welcome is extended to all players scheduled for the 2008 show including new faces Al Kabela, Mike McGee, Tim Harr, Michael Hartz, and Doug Stock. The schedule is almost complete and will be posted on our website in a few days at www.steelguitarjam.com.
A big welcome is also extended to Michael Scott and Lana Rosselli who will be handling Steel Radio chores during the show.
For many of us, connecting with and visiting with old friends has become just as important as the music at the show (we think of our show as a place 'where no one is a stranger'). As usual, we'll keep at least half the ballroom floor open to provide ample room for the many attendees who come to dance.
Reservations should be made by February 10 at the host motel, The Heartland Inn (at Crossroads Mall). Phone 800.334.3277 and tell them you want the Northeast Iowa Steel Guitar Show rate. We do hope you will plan to join us for the entire event. ...lefty

Lefty - Yes, Mary and I will be there and I will have my Frypan. I have worked up some different tunes to play this year along with a couple of tunes that the people expect me to play. Having Ron and Leslie there again is really a plus for your show! No one plays with as much soul, feeling and expression as Ron does.

I will also be anxious to play with your excellent staff band. Especially that guitar player! You know who I mean but in case you don't his name is ROGER MILLER! What a talented musician he is and to top it off I never met a nicer couple than Roger and Kathy. See you there. Scotty & Mary, St. Louis, MO.

hi Scotty, we're looking forward to having you and Mary with us again in Waterloo for our 16th show! And you're right, Roger Miller is one fine lead player who now is also playing steel guitar. Rog and Kathy make a great team.
And, Mike, good to hear from you too. We actually are planning on having good weather this year (like so many times before) and aren't planning to bring our ice skates. I will give you a call.
I thought I would mention that the preliminary player schedule (including lodging information) for our 2008 show is now available at our website www.steelguitarjam.com. Hope to see all of you there--and bring a truckload of friends! ...lefty

Being Stubbies top stage hand, I called him on the "Short-wave" radio to pack some ice cleats in his saddle bags and a snow saucer with a tow rope and helmet, just in case.... and for good luck, some sun screen.

It'll be a great show as always.....
