JB. Good idea to wash the edges of rosewood with lacquer thinner or even better with Acetone to remove as much of the oil that you can so that glue and finish will adhere to it. If you have ever heated up a rose wood finger board to remove frets or a section of the board, the oil that comes out is black and tar like. Hard for glue to adhere to it unless wiped down with solvent. The rag will turn a dark color with the oils that are leached out.John Billings wrote:I used Rosewood on a neck-thru solid body 5-string mando.
