Tell us where you GIG is tonight
Every once in awhile on saturdays, I get the urge to start a tread to find out where you guys are playing tonight. I'll start it off.
I'll be in Portland, TN tonight 8pm til 12mid playing Steel at the annual Strawberry Festival. We'll be outside of course. I get to work with guitarist Lee Bogan who normally plays for Joe Diffie. We're gonna be backing Mr. Ronnie McDowell. Should be a bunchafunnn! Nick
BTW, I was double booked tonight, and I want to publicly thank Big John Bechtel for filling in for me on the other GIG. John's playing with "Denny Bacon & The Country Cousins" at the Quality Family Restuarant in Quality, KY from 5pm till 9pm.
[This message was edited by Nick Reed on 19 May 2001 at 11:32 PM.]

I am working with Brigitte London tonight, with Redd Volkaert on guitar, Ernie Durawa on drums, and Sweet Baby James on bass. The club is Marty McFly's in Marble Falls TX. Should be a fun gig. Normally Pete Mitchell is on guitar, but he's going somewheres with Earl Ball tonight. Redd is of course as much fun as Peter, so I'm a happy steeler.

Just returned from a great gig, playing for a western swing dance in West Grove, PA, near the Delaware border. What a fun time that was!

Played a Wedding reception......(Saturday afternoon & nite.
Went well untill the bride and groom did the cake thing. She got teeded off for some reason and things went down hill from there. A cake throwing contest begin, then she hits him with something,Takes three folks to get em' apart. All this time we'ere sit up just to the left of the friskus, reminded me of the old days when we played local bars and such. All in all, a fun time was had by everyone !!

Played the annual Spring Country Music and Rhododendrum Festival at the Ga. Mtn. Fair (http://www.georgia-mountain-fair.com/)Friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night back in my hometown.
Started playing bass in Dad's band there a long time ago and later moved to steel. Its my 32nd year! We'll do 4 or 5 more weekends this season. A great band including Dad and Jerry Moore on fiddles, James Childers-guitar, Steve Vincent-drums, Jerry Braswell-bass/vocals, Vernon Maney-piano, and Barry Palmer on b@nj!r, mandolin, etc, etc.

Hey DVA !! I just wanted to let you know you
and your band sounded great again!!
Too bad the competition wasn't on the "up and up". It would have been nice to see who really won. By the way did you see a judge there because I sure didn't.
For all you readers who think it's "sour grapes" on my part your wrong. My band came
in 2nd!! and will probably benefit from it.
I simply don't feel good about it and decided to vent a little.
Again, DVA you sounded seasoned as usual.

heh, heh..."seasoned"... and that was BEFORE I started drinkin'!!!!
You guys sounded great too, and my most sincere congrats on the 2nd place slot.
Like I said Saturday, my self worth is not compromised by having failed to win a "suspect" contest...
Melissa has a lot of other things going for her... as well as her looks.
take care pal!
