Better than RV-3 ??

Post by Hiro Keitora »

Well, here I go again. Another RV-3 of mine went South. This is the second time, and I think I bought total of 5 RV-3 all together so far... That's rediculous I say...

Isn't there any "single unit" small, reverb+Delay box out there?? There got to be, right?

POD users; How about the new "mini-Pod" ??
Can I use reverb+Delay on them??

I have a POD XT. I tried one of the mini POD's and sent it back after two days of frustration and not finding anything I liked.

Ah, POD XT... Of course, of course.

Anything else does this reverb+Delay???
Even Lexicon, they do great reverb and great delay, but not together! What's up with that?

And you can use both reverb and delay at the same time? And both effects are fine tuneable?

Hey! I got to check this out!

I just did. No, no, I'm not talking about rack mount unit, I'm talking about a "small" box like Boss.

Thanks for your input thou.

Hiro, have you tried a digitech RP50? I use one at home and like it ok. It's got lots of other presets that to me sound alike but I use mine mostly for the reverb and delay which you can use together after you tweak them to your liking. Click Here to check it out.

Humm...That looks interesting. Well, Amp simulator is cool, but for us steelers, we don't need "overdrive" sound do we?

Boss came out with "Deluxe Reverb" pedal, and I jumped on it, but the reverb is cheesy, and tremolo is cheesy, and it's kind of hard to get a "clean" sound, but it works fine as a "good pre-amp with treble and bass", but that's about it.

I'm skeptical about that "Bassman" box now, since I have a real McCoy '55 Bassman( along with '64 Deluxe reverb), I don't think I'll be too happy to buy the box...

Well after buying and using a Pocket Pod, which I DO like, more for live playing ( and for the 'travel/battery/earphones) because the nuances of the reverb are less than the xtLive, I ALMOST wish I had bought a Boss BR Recorder. Like the Pocket Pod, I think it would be an adaptation to go to two amps, and it's primarily a recorder and amp modeller, but it's something that I'm going to try sooner or later.

The Pocket Pod is the guts of a 2.0 Pod, and I wish they'd come out with a mini xt.

I tried and have a RP50 Digitech, and I don't like it. The higher end models I've heard more good things about. The compressor is cheezy, like the reverb.

Good luck.

My Rv3 went "microlitic" and I never liked the buzz. If it were a perfect model I'd still have one.

The Rv5, and DD6 together would probably be the optimum, but I'm not spending that kind of money.

Also...without saying it "exactly", Peavey makes good AMPS, but I've had less good experiences with their rack delays/reverbs.

Just my .02$

:)

Hiro,
Save yourself the headache and just
pick up a PODxt off ebay for a couple hundred bucks.
I've got two of 'em...one for playing out and one to keep in the house.
Their not as small as a pedal, but
you can't compare sound quality.
If you want, check out the miniPOD from Musician's Friend.
If you're not crazy about it, just return it within 45 days.

I purchased a Digitech RP-150 just for the Reverb and Delay f/x possibilities. The Lexicon hall reverbs are beautiful.

The Yamaha Magicstomp is another alternative. I think Yamaha has discontinued them, but you can still find them pretty reasonably priced. You can program your presets in your computer via USB, then use the parameter adjust knobs on the front panel to tweak it. I like all of the effects I've tried. It is a little larger than the RV3, and a little smaller than a POD.

MSA Millennium, Legend, and Studio Pro, Reese's restored Universal Direction guitar, a restored MSA Classic SS, several amps, new and old, and a Kemper Powerhead that I am really liking. Also a Zum D10, a Mullen RP, and a restored Rose S10, named the "Blue Bird". Also, I have acquired and restored the plexiglass D10 MSA Classic that was built as a demo in the early '70s. I also have a '74 lacquer P/P, with wood necks, and a showroom condition Sho-Bud Super Pro.

I'm looking for an all~in~one type stomp box. I don't like the rack units either. Because they are hard to tweet while playing. Need almost the samething this poster needs as well. I will sell my Boss DD3 when i find an all~in~one unit to replace it.....

Hi guys, I went through this recently, during which time I owned most of the stomp boxes including RVs 3 and 5. For me the best sounding by far is the Line 6 Verbzilla. It has two great "spring" settings as well as the typical room-hall settings, built very well and you can substitute different modules for less money. I actually like the verbs in it as well as my Lexicon LXP1s, at least for live playing. My $.02,
Regards to All,

Well I just got back from the toy store and tried the new Boss RE-20 Space Echo. The delay part of it is pretty cool, but the reverb isn't so hot. It does sound like the original spring reverb, but just wasn't that lush or long.

So without going "rack" system, there really isn't any "one unit" great Reverb+Delay unit out there...

Well, if those X2 boss RV5 and DD6 gives me what I'm looking for, that might be the only way to go.

But!! That still doesn't give us to touch "Herby Land" by miles, so I don't know...

Well, the PODxt is "one unit" with great Reverb and Delay.....and it's not rack mounted.
Of course, a bit bigger than a small pedal though.

True, true. But I hear Pod XT has so many "hidden" features built-in, like one of my session man has one, and he was in the jingle studio for a commercial work, and he just could not get a clean sound out of it( and he's been using Pod since Pod 2.0 time), and only to discover that, by accident, he had some hidden "amp simulator" setting was engaged, but there weren't any 'indicator lights" to tell you it's on or off, like stomp box.

Me, I need indicator light on Wah-Wah pedal for crying out loud. I need to "see" what's on at what dgree.

But I'm not against Pod at all. I'm sure it's a matter of getting used to it like anything else.

This is one I want to try:

AMT Electronics TH-1 Tube Hall Reverb Delay Effects Pedal

Also, would like to try Tech 21's new reverb and delay pedals.
Tho not one pedal but two.

Hiro,
She-whiz....I don't know :?: I've had absolutely no problem getting a pristine clean sound.
I plug it straight into a power amp and speaker.

That AMT pedal appears to be either/or, but not both. Can anyone confirm.

Now here are probably two of the very best pedals you could ever want for delay and reverb. Two separate pedals though.

http://www.tcelectronic.com/NovaDelay.asp

http://www.tcelectronic.com/NovaReverb.asp

They're actually pretty small and compact.
