A Tale of 2 MSA's

Post by Jim Palenscar »

When the Millennium series of MSA's was introduced I asked Kyle Bennett of MSA when they were going to come out with another wood-bodied guitar and he replied that their criteria for cabinets was such that they didn't know of a cabinet builder who could comply with their strict specifications as currently the carbon fiber cabinets were built with a slight draft angle in order to facilitate removing them from the mould. I then introduced Kyle to my great friend Mark Giles and Kyle said that I was going to get the 1st one- it was to be called the Legend and Johnny Cox did his magic and it arrived absolutely perfect! Fast forward to several years ago when Reece was ill MSA announced that they were going to offer a limited edition of 12 guitars known of as the Anniversary Edition and I ordered one- honestly mostly out of my love and admiration for my wonderful friend Reece- and told them no hurry as I loved my current guitar :). I just received that guitar and feel compelled to brag about the job that my friends at MSA did for me. First I asked Mark Giles to build me a cabinet with a dark green lacquer burst and of course he knocked it outta the park and then I presented Kyle and Mitchell with the daunting task of installing a setup that included 7 knee levers (w 2 verticals on the left knee)and 8 pedals on a single 12 cabinet and once again- they did a magnificent job. I also had them add the MSA designed L Frets lighted fretboard and I could not be happier and have to say that the work done here exceeded my expectations that were already quite high. Thanks my friends- I owe you big time!

Wow. Congrats all around
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

Jim, beautiful guitars, with a build quality second to none.I know the fantastic job they did on my old Milly after I bought it, when finished it was like a brand new guitar. Can't praise them highly enough, Kyle, Mitchell and Sonny and all the crew at MSA.

Partially because of Reece, but mainly due to the extraordinary quality of both the instruments and their customer service, I am an MSA customer for life.

These are stunning!

when I ordered a new MSA back in the late 70s I asked Maurice what color to get - he said "order a green one" so I did. Great guitars!
