Hey I just listened to Bob Dylan's cover of Sinatra's "Stay with Me" and whatever you think of Dylan's new project the steel playing by Don is really worth a listen.

Yeah. Good call. And IMO Bob sounds about 1000 times better than I feared he would (I'm speaking as a fan since.....pretty much the beginning).

Dylan continues to amaze me and I've been listening since his first album - he's not doing greatest hits tours and keeps on doing challenging work. I do enjoy the current band he's got and Don Herron doesn't seem to get enough credit.

NPR is streaming Stay With Me btw.

So Dylan himself gives a lot of credit to Don's work on the new album in his AARP magazine interview:

"Once you think you know the song, then you have go and see how other people have done it. One version led to another until we were starting to assimilate even Harry James’ arrangements. Or even Pérez Prado’s."

"My pedal steel player is a genius at that. He can play anything from hillbilly to bebop."

Nice compliment to Donnie and shout out to a steel player.

Yes, Kudos to Donnie......

This Dylan album is really interesting musically. For the moment, Dylan has turned "Crooner" ala Rod Stewart, preforming all Frank Sinatra hit songs. The arrangements are really captivating. Donnie proves the diversity of the Pedal Steel Guitar wonderfully. Very tasty fills and perfect background chords....sounds very "Big Band".....Dylan was smart & insightful bringing Donnie in. Heard samples on NPR.. 8) TX
