A Great Find on Sierra Steels

Post by David Wright »

I inherited two steel guitars back in 1982, they were my grandfathers Rudy Knofler or known as R.C. Knofler, the story is he worked with Chuck Wright in the fifties. we have a small lap steel guitar and a double neck with stand and complete pedals, they are both in very nice condition. their cases are in very nice condition also. there is even a tool box with lots of extra parts. they are not for sale but we are interested in the history of these guitars. if you would like pictures i would love to send them. they have been in my closet since 1982. we set them up about every five years just to show them off..

Just wanted to share this ,
I received a email from the Grand Daughter of A Man that worked with my Dad, his name was Rudy, ".. I remember him as a very young boy,
My Dad hired him when he began a business adventure with Bob Crooks, owner of standel amps... it was 1960 or so, dad rented a big shop to begin producing Steels , standard guitars and Bass guitars..it was a short lived thing, but Rudy was there for all the time it was going on...Rudy was a Master Craftsmen on anything he did.. As it turns out , he willed 2 guitars to his Grand daughter, a Sierra D-10 and lap steel my dad had made..heres some pictures, keep in mind these guitars have NEVER been played, and look Brand New!!..Grand daughter lives in Ca,
Sierra was named after the Sierra's Mountains of Ca...FYI..
Hope you enjoy this as much as I have :D
I'm trying to get pic of lap steel..
