I haven't seen it yet, had to rush off to back up the great Troy Walker singing Judy Garland and Johnny Ray songs, now I'm back home ready to rewind the VHS. I'm thrilled to be back on Idol if only for one show, and today was fun and easy with no worries about playing out of tune. (Perceptive observers may have noticed no cable coming out of my volume pedal. We had prerecorded it.)
The band you saw on stage right played Rocket Man, and their guitar player did the slides with a glass slide on his finger. Most of what you heard was that band playing live.

It was so cool to see steel on the stage. I love the way they are putting the backup singers and musicians on stage wit the idols this year. It is also nice to see country music being encouraged and showcased. Awesome show tonight.

EB, you should have worn the headdress/hat(?) in your avatar so the SGF community could have immediately recognized you.

Elton John

Post by Rick Winfield »

Elton had a pedal steel in a lot of his recordings, doing the background, and fills.
Seems that Britain is a little ahead of us, using that instrument in many forms of music, besides country.
Rick
PS: that was an excellent back-up for Scotty

Doug on "Idol". Does this mean he has finally made it?

Mighty fine playing and a great representation of steel guitar up front for the masses.
