I have burned a completed SGF Showcase MP3 CD with liner notes in a PDF file, and it's being tested on various equipment by a friend of mine. Right now the genre tag in the MP3 files is blank. My friend suggests that I fill it with a custom tag Steel Guitar so that they are all grouped if you sort your library by genre.
Another option is to fill them with the established generic genre tags: Country, Folk, Rock, Jazz, Classical, etc. I'd have to make the decision for each song.
I actually prefer leaving the tag blank. It's easy enough for people to set it to whatever they want once the files are on their own computer. I change the genre tags in my own iTunes library all the time.
Due to the time constraints on this project, I'm only going to leave the poll open for 8 hours or so.

Then that's what you should do. Make it easy on yourself.b0b wrote:

Thanks, everyone. The genre will be blank.
