A Fool Such As I - E9th/C6th w/audio and Rhythm Track

Post by Greg Cutshaw »

Here's a classic song with a few twists. The intro uses 3 diminished note groupings on the steel even though the band plays straight chords. I used split tuning to get these but as the tab shows, you can also get the diminished chords using a 1/2 "A" pedal press or with the "F" knee lever on strings 5,6,8 and 9. The twin guitar parts were both done on steel. Pay close attention to the fretted/open string combos and the 1/2 "A" pedal presses.

Too much wine, women and song made me forget the E chord. At least I had the F chord in there twice! Thanks Billy for pointing that out!

Hey Greg...
What kind of player do I need to listen to your wma's?
I have winamp and it's set to play this file type, but it doesn't play...?
Any suggestions?

Bill,

Windows Media Player version 9,10 and 11 should work fine. I am surprised that Winamp doesn't play it also. Upgrade to the latest Winamp and if that doesn't work, email me and I'll try some things here with Winamp and hopefully get it going for you.

A rare bump by me. Hearing Kayton Roberts play this again with all his rhythm vamps put chills down my spine. A big thanks to Marty Stuart (no I don't mean Martha Stewart) for sharing the stage with fellow musicians like Kayton and fiddlin' Eddie Stubbs. And hats off to Kayton for being a showman and getting a nice hand for the boss's guitar part! Who says the steel man can't get out from behind his guitar and draw applause...................

And then Marty returned the favor for Kayton. Great cats.

Tommy,

This was done on my MSA legend with a Fender Steel King amp. The Williams is long gone!
