I recently purchased a single 8 string Fender, I think its a deluxe with a blender knob. Anyway it buzzes like crazy above the 12th fret. The sound appears to originate at the bridge. I've tried putting stuff behind the bridge but that didn't work. Has anyone else had similar problems and any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had the same buzzing problem on my Stringmaster. It turns out the bridge had become grooved under the string. I fixed that by taking off the strings and flipping the bridge over. No buzz thereafter.

This might not be the case with yours, however.

Hey, are you the Keith that used to play bottleneck ala Duane Allman around the Santa Cruz area?

Keith, If it is buzzing above the 12th fret
the strings might be going down just low enough to touch something around the bridge or the pickup might be a little high and the strings are touching it, should be easy to find. Chuck

Yes Bill, I moved out here to the sticks a few years back, I sure miss Santa Cruz and all the nice people. I played in lots of different bands back there, country, blues, jam bands, even Irish. I don't know which one you are reffering to and unfortunately I can't place your name. Did we ever met?

Keith, do you by chance have a trapezoid pickup on that? There's a great thread here http://steelguitarforum.com/Forum2/HTML/003730.html that speaks really well to a specific condition with these. I noticed the same thing on my '53 with trapezoids...and learned that it's both common and fixable.

Hi Keith:

Yeah, I'm sure we jammed at Callahan's together back in the 90's at one of those crazy drunken jams with the late Gary (forgot his last name)or maybe at Moe's Alley. I played a sunburst ES335 or a white Strat.
