I saw this champion and was curious about the finish. I thought they all were mots but the seller told me they were also available painted. Is this true?

The early (ca. 1949) Champions had a painted blond finish, according to Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars. Too bad this doesn't have the original pickup!

sigh... another victim of p'up cannibalization. Hopefully, it rests now in a Tele that's seeing a lot of play time!

What a shame. Lets hope this happened a long time ago. This one was gone through pretty good. Not only the rout job and pickup, but the milled jack cup has been replaced with a stamped one, the screwa should be flat head not Phillips, the knobs look too domed for one that early and it looks like the fingerboard may be a repaint (big dots). Whoever pulled the pickup to put it in a Tele would have had to rig a way to hold it in, they are mounted differently. Oh well, a darned shame.

Last I heard of cannibals was over 100 years ago in Fiji. I guess some are still around !
