Putting in a Tru Tone taking out a BL 705. The BL has 4 leads (Red, Green, White, and Black )and a ground... The True Tone has one lead and a ground. Do I wire the four leads of the BL to the one of the Truetone..or only one? I'm splicing into the BL cable to make the install a little easier.
Thanks |

Tie the green and white together, wrap with tape and put out of the way. The red and black are your outputs.
(The green and white only come into play if you want a switch to give you single coil, but you didn't say you wanted that)
Black is ground, red is hot. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Thanks Lane..Seems to be working fine with just the red and ground (I discovered the black was not wired to ground into the switch)..BUT the pickup is about 1/4 to 3/8" lower than the BL. I guess I need something under the pickup to raise it up.. What is typically used for this? I put the Tru Tone on the E9 neck and still have a BL 705 on the C6. The C6 output is definitely more than the E9 |

Not to hijack this thread but, how would I turn the 705 into split coils with the white/green wires and a three way switch? |

First, Charlie: if it works at all, I suspect your green and white wires are already tied. Pics I've seen show that they come that way. Just keep them away from the endplate, or other exposed wires.
Second, Chris, what kind of three way switch? If you have an On/Off/On, I'd run like this
Black to ground/sleeve of jack
Red to leg A
Green/White to leg C
Leg B to tip of jack. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

What kind of guitar, Charlie? Most have screws that raise or lower the tray the pickup sits in. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I got it..The raise springs weren't letting it get high enough. Got some smaller springs..all is good.
Will try out the PU tomorrow when I can crank it up. |
