Someone posted the video in the Steel on the web section and I thought it would be fun to compare Gary's solo to the original Weldon Myrick solo. He starts with the same lick but then he manages to make it his own while still retaining the original spirit of Weldon's performance.

Anyhow, here it is. There are a few videos on youtube with Gary backing up Connie Smith; one is from the Marty Stuart show and the other one is from musiccityroots.com (that one is in HD and it sounds and looks awesome).

Someone suggested I transcribe Gary's Lighthouse Tale... Ouf, talk about a project! In the meantime, this is all the Gary Carter I have... but I assure you that playing this at tempo could keep many of us busy for awhile...
