Now I am bumping this thread to introduce myself, show a few iPhone pics of my Zumsteel, and ask about it. Please try to ignore the messy apartment in the background:
I bought this used from a friend in Texas. I believe he was the second owner. So my first question is, can anybody tell me what model this is? The serial number, a little hard to read in that last pic, is E233. I can't find anything on the Zumsteel site that explains anything about serial numbers beginning with "E."
Here's another one earning its keep. Not the prettiest one but it's got lots of integrity. She sings good too. That's Dave Clark of Texas Fever on the right.
Chris, you have a sharp eye. Yes I did add the white trim to it. That didn't make it sound or play any better. I just thought it gave a little kick to the front appearance. I came with 9 pedals and 7 knee levers and I have since added two more knee levers to it. It has the George L E66 pickups on both necks and I play through a Nashville 1000. (with effects)
Here is a pic of my Stage One, with a table I built to sit behind it to make learning easier. Nice to not have to spin around to see the computer, and have any music in front of me! Maybe someday I will upgrade to a D-10, but until then, this one keeps me busy!
I installed an Emmons single coil pickup plus completely tore-down & rebuilt the undercarriage of this guitar....Aapparently I still need to do some lawn work, though
secretly wanting a 12str to experiment with, that would do nicely! i love that color.
douglas..that's a perfect table for what you're doing...esp with the laptop right there! now i want one of those, too. ..course, then i'd have to practice.
Here is the newest Zum Steel I know of. It just arrived yesterday, 12/31/2011. Wow, this thing is amazing. Bruce has built another masterpiece and I could not be happier. Can't stop playing it. I have never heard such sustain or tone and never felt such awesome mechanics. So Smooth and precise. Love it!
