Drivin Nails In My Coffin
I'm snowed in, browsing the forum, and found this cool YouTube of Buddy Emmons with Earnest Tubb at
http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=199672
It sure sounds like Mooney or Crawford to me, but the video proves otherwise.
Here's my transcription of the solo. Uses only two pedals.
It's possible that the places where I indicate the first string were actually played on the 4th string using the C pedal. Not sure. Try it both ways and let me know what you think.
If you use the C pedal, you can half pedal it in measure 17, thus avoiding moving the bar.

Re: Drivin Nails In My Coffin
I'm 99.9% sure that Buddy used the C pedal with his right foot at around 2:09 and 2:17 in the video. You can see his body shift to make that motion, and I have seen him do it in person.Joey Ace wrote:It's possible that the places where I indicate the first string were actually played on the 4th string using the C pedal. That would correspond to measures 11, 12 and 17 of your tab. To do it, replace the first string notes in those measures with the fourth string with the C pedal.
Buddy also gives an in-your-face "Drivin' Nails" lesson in hot C6 backup behind ET.

Allan, Yer welcome.I appreciate the kind words.
Jim, I agree. The use of the first string fits my style better, but you can see Buddy shifting his body to get the C pedal with his right foot, in a bit of "Showmanship/Humor".
Too bad the camera didn't catch his footwork.
If the 1961 date is correct, this clip is 50 years old!
I suspect it's 4 or 5 years newer. Anybody know?
