Who knows Tony Arrowood? I discovered him on You Tube this week and enjoyed his playing. Also saw something I have never seen before - he has a lever sticking up at the right end of the guitar that he moves with his right hand. What about that?

Bill, most of us know Tony. Myself, I know him through YouTube.
Tony is not only a great steel player but he also has his own sound. Besides that, he is the nicest person you would ever meet.

That lever sticking up is called a wrist lever. It was used on steels years ago and some old steels still have them (Tony's is a Marlen = old steel)
Another that comes to mind is Mike Perlowin. He has one on his MSA.

I think I remember Tony telling me he plays that pretty Marlen through an old Peavey bass guitar amp. Whatever it is, the combination of Tony, the guitar, and the amp really work well together.

Must be something in the air up there where he's at.

There's a few other guys from up in the Hills that do fine pickin that are on the Youtube. Check out Bill Sutton, Mr Klatchum (don't know his first name) , Terry McCumbie , and others that i can't recall. Very talented guys.
