Forumite Scott Shipley a HUGE Hit @ Birmingham Symphony Hall

Post by basilh »

The forthcoming DVD will confirm that Scott was a tremendous Hit at the concert, his set was received with enthusiastic thunderous applause..
He was a HUGE HIT !!
I can't say more, except that his George Bush" song was understood and related too very much by the audience.

Scott was also a HUGE hit at the party afterwards at Jury's Hotel, his version of "Dark as a Dungeon" was superlative and definitive.. as far as the listeners there were concerned..

The Scanlon School of Irish Dancing dancers opened the show and then I played this :-

Howdy Pete, nice to hear from you! I need to come hear ya play again, I'm runnin out of licks! Haven't seen you in a while, hope all is great with you too my friend!
I'm actually still over here until August 1 when I come back to town to play the Opry and The Midnight Jamboree (on August 2), for the first time ever as me, not a sideman. I'm stoked about that. May even have Snake Oil with me.
Man, you guys missed one of the tastiest Hughey-esque solos I've ever heard. Bob Brolly sang "Look At Us" on the show that night, and Basil NAILED the solo. It was Hughey, but still Basil at the same time. Very, very nice. That Emmons of his sounded killer!
That gig was amazing. It was like a living room concert, only in a really big living room. Great vibe there.
Thanks again to Bas and Bob for letting me stink up the joint!
:D

Thanks for the kudos Scott, reciprocation is appreciated (nice title for a song).
You are so right about the tone of my 1970 pp, but so as not to confuse the issue, the instrumental I opened the show with WASN'T played on the Emmons though, I was on the 1953 long scale Fender Stringmaster twin 8, that I bought from Lark in the Morning music..the one Alan Brookes so expertly restored..
