I don't have a dog in this one, but I thought somebody might like a heads up on a great Western Swing CD. The Singer is billed as "Rooster Quantrell", and has a great baritone. It's a long CD with 20 tunes, and they're really good. I got my copy from ebay and when I emailed the seller he said Paul Franklin and Buddy Emmons were among the steelers, whoever they are, The Steel playing is fantastic! Don't miss this if you like Swing. Great production all around. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=307&item=4040175754&rd=1

Mark, yes this is some great stuff. I downloaded it from MP3 site a couple of years ago. It is still some of my favorite music.

Rooster sure sounds a lot like songwriter Tim Mensy (written a number of songs for lottsa folks including Mark Chesnutt) but it's supposed to be Donald Bradley, who plays trumpet, piano, guitar and bass and is the piano player in Mark Chesnutt's band.

This CD belongs to my pal, Col. Buster Doss. I was slightly involved in some of the recording and editing, so I know it well. Buster wrote most of the songs on it, and they're great! He was a writer on "Cross The Brazos At Waco", among others you would recognize. He produced it over a period of years with Rooster (Don Bradley). That's why it has several steel guitar players on it. There are 20 songs on it and Buddy is on more than half the songs, and it's some fantastic Emmons, I must say. Hal Rugg is on several tracks and Paul F. is on a couple. Rooster is one of my favorite Western Swing singers and he will be yours, too. If you have trouble getting the CD, just order it from:

Really, no kidding folks, Western Swing fans should NOT miss this one. Production as good as the Pennington/Emmons Swing series, great tunes, stellar playing and super steel. I wish there were ten more volumes.
