Gilley's steeler has been Joey Riley for
some time. He does a lot of the comedy work
on the show as well. I caught the show last year and left wanting a little more steel.
He is a good player and a funny guy.

I played drums at the Wylie Opry for a long time and Joey would come in and play fiddle and tell some jokes. He is a great guy and and great player.

I met up with him again in Missouri and he would stop by and sit in on steel in the band I was in and he was great. He has definately been in the right place at the right time.

I have seen the Gilley/Riley routine several times: they do a great show together, and very funny. Joey does a nice show-bit on the fiddle also. I've heard that he's the highest paid steel player in the biz--$2K per show--7 to 8 shows a week. He owns several businesses including a limo service. HJ
