Hey there!
Back in 1980 I was in Nashville doing the final touches on the "Manual of Style" book I did with Crawford/Bethel/Hughey/Myrick.
While I was there I got together with Paul Franklin and recorded an interview with him.
When I got home, I transcribed it and that was it. I never gave it to any magazine as I had inteded. My life took an unexpected turn that summer and I guess I got busy with other things and forgot about it.
While cleaning up tonight, I found it. Great stuff! A real slice of Paul's thinking from 23 years ago.
I am planning on scanning it, doing the necessary spelling checks, and will eventually put it up on my web site-- probably in about a month after I get all the steel stuff together that I want to put up.
Right now the only thing up is my copedant-- and a whole raft of stuff about homeopathic medicine-- which is a big piece of my life outside the steel guitar.
I'll let you all know when I got it done and up.
Paul speaks great truths that deserve to be heard-- even 23 years later.
Best!

Hey Winnie,
What's the URL of your website?
The Paul Franklin interview will certainly be welcome once you get it published. Thanks for thinking about us.

Winnie, why don't you consider publishing the old PF interview in the new steel magazine. They are looking for material, and might even give you some jack for it. |

Winnie-
What a coincidence! I interviewed Paul in 1980, too, and Guitar Player Magazine ran it. On this page.

Nice interview.
The one I have speaks more about his tuning, and how he thinks about music. It is more of a ramble than what you have.
When I get it up, I'll give the URL out.
Right now the site is still under construction.
