Has any builder ever used brass instead of aluminum for a steel?

Probably not since brass and bronze weigh about the same as steel (.283 #/cubic inch). Aluminum weighs about 1/3 as much, .098#/cubic inch and weight can be an issue. Having said that, someone will post photos of Arnold playing the brass Frying Pan from Pumping Iron.
