Hello everyone.
After reading the forum for a while i finally joined.
I've been playing PSG for about three years now and it all started somewhat by coincidence.
I've allways loved the steel guitar sound, but ten years ago we hired a PSG player on a recording session and i decided i couldn't learn an instrument that is played with evrery part ot the body.
But one night i got a phonecall from a guy in a local country-rock band, telling me their pedal steel player was quitting, and selling his steel guitar. He knew i was playing guitar, dobro and lapsteel so he figured i'd automaticly be a good PSG player.
Well i came down to their rehersal the next day and didn't understand anything about this weird instrument, but two months later i played my first gig on a pedal steel. I'll never regret it.
Living in the north of Sweden means that you're not exactly surrounded by steelguitar players, so the internet has more or less been my only source of information, especially this forum.
I'd like send out my warm thanks to b0b and all forumites for making this forum such a great place.
-Ulf

Det är lögn att det finns ont om PSG omkring dig. Sorry boys that I start in Swedish, it's more easy to do so when a new member from Sweden show up her after a loooooooong time sneak reading.

Ulf, Welcome to the Forum. I noticed you have seen it for a while but finally decided to join. You know how great a website this Forum is. I have never paid a small amount of money for anything that has been worth more than my joining the Forum. It sure is an honor to have our steel guitar brethern from overseas join in and put in their thoughts and ideas. I look forward to reading your comments....Paul |

I allready know how hard it is to keep away from this place. That's why i had to join.
Thank you all for being so kind.
But Bosse, it's not very kind to call someone a liar, not even in Swedish.
I DO only know of one steel player besides myself, that IS true. If there's more steelers in my area, don't hasitate to contact me.
Regards
-Uffe

Hi Ulf.
Have YOU not heard off Peter Ivansson in Vännäs, close to you?? Plays in Cross Country. The lies is more humor when YOU find out there is one in Skelefteå also.

Hello Peter!
Good to hear from you. So you found your franklin at last, congratulations. Do you still have your EMCI D-10?
My pedal steel is a Swedish AWH custom student model. It has a primitive changer system that doesn't allow raise and lower on the same string, and the action is quite stiff.
I'm looking for a new steel and i'm kinda curious about the DeVis PSG's built by Jan Visser in the Netherlands.
I also had a "Howard" student 2p+2k, but i sold it. That one sounded pretty good though. Then i have a hound dog dobro, and of course my 1936 Gibson EH-100 lapsteel that sounds just sooo good.
Happy Pickin'
