Hi,
I added to an already ongoing post but I thought I would introduce myself. I have been reading for a litle while and I just saw they paypal thing to join this board, so I thought I would sign up.
My name is Melinda, I live in Tacoma, WA.
I play a 6120 Brian Setzer Gretsch that I have had for about 4 years. I have been playing guitar since I was 12. My daddy plays guitar, he taught me well.
I play this Gretsch in a band called "The Lucky Devilz" which includes: a really great stand up bass player who we call "Dawghouz"; an awsome OC, CA drummer who we call "Da beatbox" and our lead guitar player Brad.
I also play fiddle. I have been playing this 5 string instrument for about 10 years now. I started playing the violin at 3.
I play in a professional orchestra currently.
I bought a 1968 Fender 1000 not too long ago for a good price. I am looking forward to getting started. My other steel playing friends say I am ahead of the game because I already know how to tune it. I went looking specifically for a Fender.
I feel fortunate that I know how to read music now that I have a steel.
I am looking forward to talking with all of you and picking your brains for information.
Oh yeah, I am also 22.
Cheers!
Melinda

Melinda........you've done yourself a great favor by joining The Steel Guitar Forum. You will never regret that decision and will likely learn more valid information here on a daily basis than you might otherwise be exposed to in a life time.

There's going to be a great Steel Guitar Jam In Spokane real soon. Duane Becker is the man. Living in Tacoma, you should really plan on attending it. Local folks...

Hi from the coast of NC. I also play a 6120 Chet Atkins Signature model that I bought in 1972. It still plays great and looks fine except for some of the binding that has chipped off. I also have a Carter S-10 and a new GFI S-10 with pad. I also play bass, piano, mandolin and just purchased a banjo. Glad you've come aboard.

Hi Melinda. Welcome aboard! Try this link to see who's in your area:
http://209.41.162.249/index.cfm

If I recall in Tacoma is Larry Chester and Wally Giffin. In Seattle is Dan Tyack and Speedy Price. I'm one of the several Portland area pickers. Good luck and it sounds like you've got a great start for steelin' - DJ -
