Who was the steel player that played on Nashville Now in the staff band that wasn't Hal or Wimpy? Was it Doyle Grisham?

I'm talking about TNN's Nashville Now hosted by Ralph Emery. Probably in the last couple years of the show.

It was probably Stu Basore of whom you speak. We did that show quite often while I was working for G. Watson and it was allways Larry Sasser with the exception of one occasion when Hal was there. But watching the show on TV,I did see Stu Basore filling-in one time also to my recollection.

Most of the steel work was done by Larry Sasser.

I believe I would have recognized Stu. This guy was a shorter man with brown hair and may have wore glasses. Dressed sharply in a suit! I remember seeing him twice. Thanks much, guys.

I don't think he was doing the "Show" but I do recall seeing Paul Franklin backing Rodney Crowell one night and he did such a knock your socks off rendition of Ralph Mooney that even Ralph Emery had to comment on it.

What I remember most though; is when they had call ins and I got to talk to Larry live on the air. A once in a lifetime thing !!

Regards, Paul

Doyle subbed for Hal Rugg several times during Larry Sasser's hiatus. Doyle is good friends with Fred Newell who was the staff guitarist on the Nashville Now program.
